#SailfishOS#Gecko dev diary Day 236. Getting back on the horse 🏇 after a two week gap! A gentle start, looking at the wonderful image deciphering work others have been doing while I've been taking a break! 🖼️

It's baffling to me that most people are willing to suffer all the craptitude that runs by default on Android. I had to skip and disable at least a dozen services and apps immediately after the first run setup. It's gross and I don't like it.
#SailfishOS#Gecko dev diary Day 235. Wrapping things up before I take a pause until 18th May while I attend the HPC Days conference. Thanks to tortoisedoc for the helpful suggestions and to everyone who's read, boosted and favourited my posts over the last 235 days! I'll be back with more gecko development real soon!
#SailfishOS on the @PINE64#Pinephone and #pinephonepro has an updated kernel and ofono. Please should if it breaks and i can revert the change, but hopefully its better!!
The #Sony#Xperia 10 V and 10 IV have been added to the list of supported devices on Jolla's Sailfish OS documentation website. Images for these models should be available with the upcoming #SailfishOS 4.6.0 Sauna release. However, support for the Sony Xperia X appears to have been discontinued.
The port existed before it’s public release for quite long, it was developed along the Xperia 10 III port. I’m using it ever since then. However the testing, polishing and subsequent release took quite some time because of my personal situation and the work on other items such as the the update discovery service Cosu.
It’s so much better out here without a data-sucking behemoth controlling everything you see, flooding your search results with spam and injecting the internet with LLM-generated sludge. Bonus, if you leave, your data stops contributing to serious ethical problems.
Thanks for @Em0nM4stodon for passing The Verge’s How To along.
@ryan
well i always think you should give #sailfishos a try. :) it'll let you keep your android apps without a store cos it runs android apks on a virtual layer. and its an entirely third player, a separate OS, not android or ios. Plus full functionality.
#SailfishOS#Gecko dev diary Day 228. Searching for the equivalent of clearWindowSurface(), but for the WebView rather than the browser. I think I found it though! 🔎
The release includes various security updates and other bug fixes that affect all Sony adaptations taken from Jolla.
The delay between the last was mostly caused by the development for the update discovery service and
my personal situation in my private live took a turn for the worst last year. The Xperia 1/5 II port also took some time of course.
@Tutanota Mostly I use the web version. I will gladly have an #SailfishOS app, but I can't somehow find it. Is there any tuta app for this particular OS? 🤔🙄
#SailfishOS Support for the Xperia 10 IV and V confirmed
Jolla confirmed that the upcoming 4.6 release will be supported on the #Sony Xperia 10 IV and #Xperia 10 V devices. The first release will be without the commercial components of #SailfishX and Android AppSupport will eventually be available later. Reasons are unresolved remaining issues. With further work on it and new binary data from Sony, Jolla is hoping to fix the issues.
