I think we've reached the number of UX/UI designers required for the digital world.

Now it's time to go back to service design and urban design. There's a lot of world-mending still needed.

Victor Papanek's "Design for the real world" from 1971 is still worth reading in 2024.

@arkd the results might look different, but the creative thought processes are the same. And the real world will always be in need of a little TLC

The recent had a sponsored post for by .

I wondered how they ensure that the output is accessible, because in the description I only found " features" under "Ready for production", nothing else.

So I wrote them an email asking to elaborate how they tackled for their product. Eagerly anticipating their answer!

I got an answer the same day! The link mentioned in the reply is: https://learn.figweb.site/accessibility/

Personally I don't understand why they're not adding the link to the description. If it is in there, it should be way more prominent, I can't find it. 🤷‍♂️

I started prototyping object tooltips, two simple animations and a redraw method that uses OnPaint function, in it I used Draw Line node, to be continued...

Bug in UE 5.3... I have 2 animations in the widget, I play these anim from the character blueprint, the node of a specific anim is displayed correctly, but when I output the name through PrintText, it show me the name of another animation. So I have to use hide panel for show

I came across that in Unreal Engine, you can make materials for the font for your widget. The first thing I created - the effect is a bit like a terminal

Do you need some UI sounds, you can use for prototyping and non-commercial projects?

If you're going to programmatically add decimals to a currency entry field, then automatically filter out decimals that the user types. I shouldn't have to figure out why you're complaining about 5.41.24 when I typed 541.24.

Wow, when did macOS start having a reduced menubar hover state in the Finder?

@Luke ¿Notch? I am on Intel. Also, I have Increase contrast set.

@ChasMusic ah. Yeah newer MacBooks have a notch in the menu bar.

Good job #Youtube! There is no indication that this set of buttons can be swiped left to reveal more items. #UI #UX

Having to recycle your #kubernetes nodes because the #HPA isn't scaling up your #Mastodon #sidekiq so you're now lagging 15K jobs behind looks like this in the #UI:

Ok ok I admit that I recycled my nodes because I could. Kicking the pod probably also would have fixed it but they where up for 82 days and it felt fun

Hey fellow mastodon users. Anyone know a setting or an app that has it so that we just see initial posts? Not replies or threads?

Thanks for any answers. @ClairTheGinger

In MacOS, I often take a screenshot, right-click on the thumbnail that pops up, then select "Save to Clipboard." I've been doing this for years but still have to parse the words carefully. Why oh why doesn't it just say "Copy"? So much easier at least for my brain to grok.

@stshank that should have been Paste with Formatting 🤷

Needed some time to get used to it but I really like @MonaApp 's approach to discovery. A single tab gets you to a certain instance where you then can switch between all its feeds on a second layer. Thus the tree icon. 🌳💚

The only thing I am missing is seeing the hashtag results of the chosen instance. Right now choosing a trending hashtag from a remote instance shows me the hashtag feed of my home instance. Which always leads to the same results.

yuliyan,
@yuliyan@nahe.social avatar

@MonaApp I can see different hashtags for each instance too. Only, once I open a hashtag, I see the hashtag feed of my own instance (nahe.social), not the one of the remote instance.

When I navigate to mastodon.social on the trending tags tab and chose I'd expect to see the following feed: https://mastodon.social/tags/somehashtag

Instead I see https://nahe.social/tags/somehashtag which is very different.

MonaApp,
@MonaApp@mastodon.social avatar

@yuliyan Thank you for the reply, now I get it. I will see how I can improve that.

Results on my #survey about trackpad tap to click.

114 responded.

65% enable tap to click and love it!
29% disable tap to click.
6% had tap to click enabled and hate it!

So about two thirds prefer tap to click.

Personally I would argue that it should be off by default, but I belong to the last group. I was finding that I was having a lot of issues with my trackpad and most went away when I changed the setting. I still have an issue at times that clicking sometimes leads to right clicking.

I have been using trackpoints for years, so I guess I am rather used to an experience with clear button clicks.

@zbrando , I have had a lot of Thinkpads over the years. I also had the Thinkpad anniversary edition. Right now I am testing something else.

Nobody makes the laptop I want with all the features I want. Sad, but true.

zbrando,
@zbrando@vivaldi.net avatar

@jon Yeah, nowadays electronics are all the same: laptops, TVs, smartphones... Even cars. Almost nobody likes to risk with design. 🙄
