Just 2 more stacks to move from my old #Portainer server to my new one!
I originally set the new one up as an agent connected to the old one thinking there would be a way to change an agent into a standalone server but there isn't
So the 5 stacks I'd re-created on the agent (and moved their data etc) had to be re-done!
I’m not very happy with the visualizations and setup/maintenance work in #Icinga 2. https://social.wildeboer.net/@jwildeboer/111500175286237161 mentions #UptimeKuma, which seems like the other extreme; a little too simple for my needs. I do want a host to be able to say “by the way, my disk three is 83% full” or “please run Windows Update”.
(Ah yes: I need Windows and Linux agents. And possibly macOS.)
But yes, most of the time, I really just need a status page.
Friends of #BSDCafe and #Fediverse, starting today, you can monitor the status of BSD Cafe services from an UptimeKuma installation I've set up for this purpose. In keeping with the BSD Cafe's spirit, this service runs inside a dedicated FreeBSD Jail but on an external VPS, ensuring external accessibility checks. Currently, it's hosted on Hetzner, just like our other services.
if you want your #instance added, just let me know here on mastodon @taco (reply or dm, whatever)! i'm constantly adding more servers that i find that i want to keep an eye on.
another reason i love #uptimekuma is being able to see what went wrong with a request. here you can see that https://cyberfurz.social went down for a few minutes, but recovered. 502 is a bad gateway error, so most likely nothing was wrong with the server software itself, just a faulty network connection down the line. really neat stuff!
