@dan613 also I get that you mean well, but this isn't really a post looking for "helpful suggestions". The purpose is to vent and to remind people that the system is sexist and should change.
Quick question for anyone that may have some insights or opinions. Email newsletters. How do you feel about them? If it's your thing how often do you receive them? Do you tend to read them occasionally or every one (I know that's very subjective)? And if you write one or have written one what platforms would you recommend? I used MailChimp way way back but even then it had issues with being flagged as spam. I am considering creating one for an upcoming project to have more direct communication.
@pidgeon_pete The newsletters I get are either for local newspapers I signed up for, or crowdfunding projects I follow. It's all stuff that I could find elsewhere, but it's more convenient for it to come to me than for me to go to it.
@pidgeon_pete I'd go with the advice that I hear a lot of twitch streamers get, which is: Don't do it for other people, only do it if you're doing it for yourself. It's extremely hard and luck-based to get popular or make money. But if you doing it because you value the process and you enjoy it regardless of if other people are interested, then absolutely go for it and have a blast.
A friend of mine just shared this because some random bigot on his FB was kicking off that the Duo owl would be pro-LGBT+ rights ("I'll DELETE THE APP!! OMG"). Obviously this is hilariously tragic and bigots should fuck off but I feel like there's a deeper question that needs answering here.
Ah. 5:30 am in #Boulder and it's so lovely to wake up to the FTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT PBBBBBBRRRR FTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT PBBBBRRRRRR of yard sprinklers.
Special shout out to the apartment that has a sprinkler that just sprays the nearby shed with a high powered jet (power washer on plastic) and the neighbors who spray across their metal mailbox pole (high-pitched ringing every 10 seconds) #WastedWater#GrassIsAMenace#Conservation
More #Babylon5 thoughts. We just got to season 2 and the show has dramatically improved, though it was a pretty low bar.
I do notice that every single female character is always wearing intense lipstick at all times, including all the aliens and also the lady in the hospital who just woke up from a 100-year cryo sleep.
Man the 90s were weird.
I'm enjoying some of the subtle build up. Obviously the plot with The Shadows is going somewhere, but I'm also interested in the parallel plot of Earth government quietly slipping into fascism. Im looking forward to the show exploring at what point does the soldier say "these laws are bad and I won't follow them"
In the past two weeks, two people I know who were in their early 60s passed away from undiscovered heart problems. In both cases, they could have been detected early with a $200 heart scan.
Guys in your 50s: get your hearts scanned and save your family and friends a whole lot of pain and sorrow.
@c_dan4th you can add my uncle to the list of near misses. Last month he went to the ER where they figured out he had severe atrial fibrillation caused by blood clots in the heart. Now he's on medication and off work for a year, but at least he didn't push it further into a straight up heart attack
@ethanOS most anywhere you look will have decent prices on recent precons. If you buy the set, $40 per deck is pretty typical. If you buy single decks, the prices will vary some depending on the value of the cards inside. My preferred site is Game Nerdz, but most places should be similar. Avoid Amazon
