I got a letter from the government today, expressing me the nation's condolences for my loss, and to tell me I'll get two more of her pension cheques before they stop. What a rip-off that is, we've been here 24 years, I get bupkus, until I turn 65!

I’m not feeling good tonight. I’m so worried about my sister. They asked my sister if she wanted to be revived if she crashed. She’s trying to survive. She’s not old by todays standards. She’s 67. COVID is not over. My sister is one of the vulnerable and nobody cares any more about people like her. Through someone who didn’t care her life hangs in the balance. 🥲

@billbennett I’m quite disgusted at our Health Authorities who should be publicising these symptoms in the Media every week at least. People think they have Tummy bugs when they in fact have the latest variant.

How to be a widower...
...is strangely not an unused weeble search. Apparently there are manuals, advice books, and a whole lot of that silly stuff on how you are to grieve in stages still out there.

This is only day one for me, and I don't want to become an expert in this role. I expect I'll be the better for failing quite a bit -- not really sure what that would be either. Still, too early to tell.

As for day one, it's peaceful, I slept well. I'm sure Findley knows "something happened."

@Kenno I’m so very sorry. I know there are no words of comfort when you lose a life partner. I have been there. I will be thinking of you as you deal with all that you must in the next few days.

@Brad @subjacentish My sister is in hospital right now on Oxygen. They say she can’t leave until she can walk to bathroom without needing oxygen. It could be at least a month. ( she’s already disabled from Parkinson’s and RA)

@subjacentish @Brad So do I. Hospital very short staffed and she’s not getting the attention she deserves for personal hygiene, feeding etc. ( she can’t hold cutlery) She’s been picking up some of her meal with her fingers. If only they would at least give her finger food.

This is the worst holiday season for my family ever. My sister and BIL have COVID. My daughter has asthma, my granddaughter and myself have sinusitis. I daren’t go outside as the wind is aggravating my allergies as it is for my daughter and granddaughter. We are all hiding in our various houses feeling sorry for ourselves.

It's come on Christmas, the city is dead, I'm off to the hospital, carrying unwrapped gifts. The headache is all over, there were enough pharmaceuticals in me to bring Jim Morrison back from the dead. I wish I had a river, I could skate away on.

For those of you following along at home, today, I'll be reading Alias Grace Chapter xiii aloud to a bedbound gal --- it's still a great book, she's turned me(!) into fan.

Feasting dinner for one, is a poor man's pizza. I will manger it. (Free pun).

    @jonoabroad Just did a bit of research. Leaky pipes are rife in Wellington. They badly need an upgrade on the water supply infrastructure. Too bad Three Waters was canned because of the misinformation fed to the public by people who had a vested interest in Privatising our water.

    @Rjdlandscapes Last time this happened my niece had a nurse hammering on her door telling her the babies were late for their boosters. Friends her babies were sick and you don’t take sick babies for shots. She was quite angry.

    Tonight I had ham and cheese toasties for dinner. One of my favourite things to make when I’m feeling lazy. I used to say “ I’m never going to be one of those old people who have things like toasted sandwiches for dinner” . I also said “ I’m never going to be one of those old people who eat the same thing three nights in a row” Finally I used to say “ I’ll never be one of those people who make one pot dinners all the time” Friends, I do all of the above!
