Wave of people getting locked out of their Apple ID.

Seems like a combination of being forced to change your password, and a delay imposed on people with "Stolen Device Protection" enabled.

Hoping this is something Apple can fix quickly.

@davemark I missed it. But I wonder if there is a diagnostic to see if I might have it somehow either way. Like using iMessage or FaceTime.

Still don’t know if it was an attack on users, or server being down for other or similar reasons.

Perhaps just multiple devices?

I wasn’t connecting to the web on phone during the ‘hour’ it went down.

The lack of diagnosis, explanation is unnerving.

And Friday night is an excellent time for attack as canaries leave the coalmine for the weekend.

Just one time I’d kill to see a presenting lawyer call out the Justices to their faces during oral arguments.

Call out Thomas on why he thinks it’s reasonable to sit in judgement on such a case instead of recusal.

Call out Alito who professes the court only should decide the case IN FRONT OF THEM instead of pandering to future non-relevant hypotheticals.

It never happens because they don’t want to risk their case by angering the justices, but BOY I’d be so damned sweet.

@davemark I’ve found the variants to be so uniformly horrible I can’t get very far. Their competition for decades could do a decent lemon creme- they can’t even come up with that!

It’s all a move to crowd out shelf space from competitors
(sadly, even other, better Nabisco cookies)

If they were really doing a test market, they would make smaller packages. I end up trying one or two, then end up throwing a 2 lb pkg in the trash.

New US airline rules:

  • Airlines MUST give a refund for canceled or significantly changed flights
  • Includes 3h domestic delay, 6h int'l delay, different airport routing, downgraded seats, loss of disability accessibility
  • Refund must be automatic, prompt, and for the full amount of unused ticket
  • Starts this fall

@Chrishallbeck I have considered it might be something in the way my client app is parsing things. Or where the URL was shared from, where it was discovered, something in its string, the URL formatting. YouTube Apps and Web use different URLs, and other platforms create their own variants.

Your links a bit more than others, but I have seen it happen with others. But most other postedYouTube links look normal.

@daringfireball I think there has been an untapped market for elder phones- touch screen phones you could set up in the most minimalist ways with only necessary info and the fewest steps to make or recieve a call. Big picture buttons for frequently called numbers, on home screen lock screen, message tab. Beyond time and date almost NO visible apps or visual clutter.

Should be a mode on iPhone and Android, neither of which will give up the display of dozens of Apps on a Home Screen.

The weird bit, some of these Apple ‘Jonathan’ concept modules resemble what I was doing with my Mac anyway, with hardware peripherals. HardDisc Storage, optical or removable media drive, A Roland Sound Canvas, speakers.

A few are unfamiliar- video cards, graphic cards, other bespoke I/o, Multiple CPUs as coprocessors or a different boot CPU

Sherlock for what good it was, became overshadowed completely by the verb it became.

I used both Sherlock and Watson simultaneously, liked both. I think both were at an amazing crossroads when high bandwidth fast internet in a pre-Google soup of multiple search engines created magic. With a single query you got lightning fast results from multiple engines minimal no cruft.

Sherlock’s major difference? Its integration with Safari?

Sherlock became searchlight?

Tesla has texted or called me at least 10 times in the last month to offer incentives if I lease a new car with them after my Model Y ends at the start of May. They are quite litterally desperate.

If I chose to re-up with them I could get quite a deal. I’ve told their reps multiple times I won’t support Tesla as along as Elon Musk is the CEO of the company. Gotta wonder how long Tesla shareholders will put up with him in charge. https://mastodon.online/@electrek/112201815082910986
