For those who aren’t aware, Microsoft have decided to bake essentially an infostealer into base Windows OS and enable by default.

From the Microsoft FAQ: “Note that Recall does not perform content moderation. It will not hide information such as passwords or financial account numbers."

Info is stored locally - but rather than something like Redline stealing your local browser password vault, now they can just steal the last 3 months of everything you’ve typed and viewed in one database.

Do you see a series of sunken rectangles or 16 circles?

This is The Coffer Illusion.

Our brains are geared toward identifying objects & here, “pixels” are grouped to form edges & contours, shapes, & objects. The image is inherently ambiguous so there is no “right” grouping.

Rectangles dominate first for most people - including me, but keep staring & the image may flip to circles.

Today is the 8th anniversary of my Consolation EP.

The title track of the EP is probably my most emotional recording. It's a fretless bass improvisation that involves using a looper, that simply flowed out of me in the week after an uncle had passed away. I dedicated this track to him, and to everyone that has lost a loved one.

    2013 experimental ambient album from the Netherlands. The majority of the album makes a great pair with a game of Betrayal at House on the Hill or other things looking for a darker vibe somewhat reminiscent of Lustmord. The last two tracks are less dark, but are probably my favorites.

    Any music-related stuff you are doing today, of Mastodon?

    I'm going to work on a generative patch in Pigments 5. I started work on it yesterday, and hopefully can make it sound how I want today after more tweaking.

    In the end I used Native Instrument’s Noire plugin as the sound source instead of a patch in Pigments 5, but I used its sequencer and modulators to create most of the generative aspects of the project.

    I tested the project in a livestream on Twitch yesterday. It will be available for only two weeks there.

    ngl, seeing everybody celebrate 40 years of the Mac makes my heart hurt once again for the Amiga which was superior in every single way but, alas, Commodore.

    I still get shivers thinking of the A3000T and what an amazing computer it was.

    Installed Bitwig Studio 5.1 today. Going to explore the basic stuff today, like using VST plugins, effects and my MIDI controller. And if all goes well I might record an improvisation session with ambient bass guitar today.
