I had given up on pleading for more alt-text but I'll try again!

Please add alt-text to your photos/pictures it only takes a minute and does not have to be fancy. My policy is not to boost images without alt-text and I am not the only one.

This is one of the cultural things I like about Mastodon, the inclusiveness. Please don't ruin it.

This is one of (many) lessons I learned, way back when, from Brian Kernighan. His approach: first, get it right (my phrasing: there's no benefit to doing the wrong thing thing quickly); second, measure, because your guesses about bottlenecks are almost certainly wrong; third, optimize.

@johnefrancis We had an HP system of some type (I never touched) for doing accounting? or something at Dynalogic (Hyperion). I do remember writing a terminal emulator for the HP terminal for the Hyperion. A block oriented protocol as I recall. I am not a geek.

So I got a phone call the other day. She started out with "'I've been making so many calls thinking I am going to get an answering machine!" So I told her Yes, I was an answering machine and hung up. Don't try to be "cute" with an autistic. Be direct and to the point.

Our 4-yr old dropping tonight that some of his friends at school have autism wasn’t near the top of my list of things he would randomly drop. It’s clear his teachers have approached this with a lot of care and empathy and he’s really intrigued and excited that he has friends whose brains, well may or may not work the same as his and that he’s lucky to have friends with autism… I was probably 25 the first time I heard the term at all

@ottaross @bjb Brown sugar is a tad better than plain unadulterated white sugar at least. 😀 It might help bring out the cinnamon flavours too. But around here we pretty much use fruits as sweeteners all the time so raisins should be enough.

@johnefrancis @capybaraz I honestly don’t think that will happen until we can split the city back up into a city part and a rural township parts. That’s unlikely to happen (Never say never) but I am hopeful.
