Look,

I sew, knit, crochet, macrame and kumihimo. I understand those things.

Still, I look at Quilts and Spun yarn, and freehand Embroidery, and Amigurumi - and my brain screams 'WHAT MAGIC IS THIS!?'

What yarn / thread-craft makes your brain go 'boing' despite knowing how the fundamentals work ?

[Yes I know Amigurumi is knitting / crotchet but it's also structural sculpting which is different to flat piece or loom knitting]

The Originals: What if Shakespeare got smushed together with a Soap Opera and there were dynasties of Vamps, Werewolves and Witches ?

Blood Ties: Very Myopic ex cop/ Private Eye has Vamp Partner (who's also a famous historical character). Has a love Triangle

Ultraviolet: UK TV show. Slow burn tension lots of intense acting. With a young Idris Elba

Being Human UK: A Ghost a vampire & a werewolf end up flat sharing. Funny but not a sitcom

Trailer new animated Disney film (releasing Thanksgiving weekend 2023) called Wish.

Not sure about animation style - and I predict it will 'fail' at the box office (for reasons that have nothing to do with the quality of the film itself) but oh my - from the trailer it feels like it was made for me and me alone.

Whenever I see a question similar to:

"Is Animal Crossing New Horizons still worth buying in 2024?"

I always think DUDE.. what do you Even think this game is ?

Do people think Animal Crossing is some huge MMO type thing that only has worth when a bazillion other people are also playing it?

It has multiplayer/co-op but it's primarily a relaxing, single player, Life Sim.

@munroe here's a curveball question for ya.

Are there any films which aren't considered to be vampire / supernatural adjacent which you would argue absolutely fit the criteria?

I consider Dangerous Liaisons (1988): Directed by Stephen Frears Starring - a host of people but including - Glenn Close, John Malkovich, and Michelle Pfeiffer is TOTALLY a film about a bunch of vampires who feed on emotions.

Previously, the longest gap between Main Console (not DLC or Mobile) Animal Crossing games is 5 years.

Animal Crossing to AC: Wild World (2001, 2005)

and

City Folk to New Leaf (2008, 2013)

Now, Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released in 2020 - and next year is 2025 could we dare to hope ?

Weather in my part of the UK is v blustery and v wet, so I suspect there won't be any trick or treaters tonight, but Boyf is adamant that someone will brave the weather in exchange for free candy..

Baking help please?

I have a scone recipe and I want to make them sweeter without making them more brittle.

Current recipe is :
225g Self raising Flour
55g Butter
25g Sultanas
25g Castor sugar
150ml milk

If I increase sugar do I need to decrease flour by same amount?

Or is there some other way to increase sweetness but keep nice chewy texture when baked?

Asylum - a film comp known for 'MockBusters' - quickly produced, relatively cheap, Blockbuster film knockoffs. Niche straight-to-video/cheap streaming, low effort films. A Modern day Troma Entertainment. Known for Sharknado series.

CineTel are a Production/Distribution company that takes concepts that Asylum threw in the garbage, then go onto to make them cheaper and faster. Filmography is filled with Nouns Portmanteaus and 'Thing vs Thing'

Eg: Captive, The Penthouse, Earthtastrophe

Food safety question:

Need to use a tin of coconut milk in a recipe (stew)

The only two tins available fell down the back of a cupboard so are both past the Best Before Dates

Can A: Best Before April 2023
Can B: Best Before Nov 2023

Is either safe to eat?

Should I just throw both away and buy a fresh new tin ?

Don't think anything else I currently own - aside from perhaps books (if kept correctly) - can feasibly last 120+ years into the future.

Yeah regards one full page of handwriting in my pen & paper journal is equivalent to 4 (ish) toots on mastodon - there is a 500 char limit on my instance - and it turns out typing up my notes is .. not what I wanna do, so I'm only gonna sporadically share.

Having lots of fun reading everyone else's, although I wish people would put the hashtag at the beginning of posts instead of the end..
