What people don't understand about a white trash bitch is that we take care of our own - we can be incredibly tender and compassionate to our community because we know no one else will take care of them or see the good in them that we do. Seriously though, why do so many straight, cis women my age look like they are 10 or 20 years older than me? And like, I am used to us trans girls having estrogenated vampire skin, but even the cis lesbians have healthy skin well into their 40s and 50s.

@JoscelynTransient i feel like it's even more true for cis guys. if you see a cis guy with good skin they are 10000000% not straight. even at 25 years old straight guys have already got pores the size of my fist and engine oil seeping out of them

Grading papers and it just mystifies me that so many don't seem to understand the idea that when you start a new topic/subject, you should start a new paragraph....rather than a 20-sentence-long paragraph that makes your teacher do the work to try to figure out if you actually are answering the different elements of the question. 😑
@JoscelynTransient The argument I've heard is that texting/instant messaging was ruining children's understanding of formatting. I guess it's worse now with Twitter and everything else moving to videos now.

We've spent so long letting boys succeed just because they are boys and telling girls they have to work harder, that girls started succeeding en masse and we didn't even know how to support boys. We've told boys to succeed by being aggressive, then all these post-second-wave inclusive feminist girls hit the scene like "what is wrong with you?"
I wrote a largish essay pre-transition about how part of the backlash against women was their relative, if somewhat piddling, success society-wide, and how that success and backlash mirrors the backlash of Black progress.
Both are successes at great cost and work, but the appearance to white patriarchy is loss of their power (rather than betterment for all.)

Something i'm pondering today: are there any popular or mainstream-ish TV shows or hollywood movies depicting a t4t couple? Are there any that even show a queer romance between a trans person and a cis person? Are there any that show trans women as capable of being dated and loved in long-term relationships as themselves?
I'll admit, I am unaware of a single t4t couple in mainstream entertainment media (maybe there's like a single episode sidestory somewhere?). That might have more to do with me not watching that many new shows and movies though, not sure.
In terms of trans characters being dated and loved as themselves, i think all of those are in queer-centered media like the L Word, Pose, and Transparent, i'm guessing? (Also haven't watched those shows because i'm a bad queer 😅) but a mainstream show? Definitely can't name one, especially where a transfem or trans woman is seen as having a long-term relationship as herself.

Serious question: why in the hell is OkCupid primarily showing me "straight, monogamous" women to match with? Like, what makes their system think a cis, straight, monogamous woman is looking for a polyamorous, bisexual trans woman to date???
They used to have a setting that was "i don't want to be seen by straight people" and you could choose to only view people who are the sexual orientations and relationship structure that apply to you. Now it's all behind a paywall....enshittification of apps that were a shitty experience to begin with! 😖
@spots1000 Thing is, it used to be very different. The algorithm was a simpler and more straightforward matching algorithm by questions you answered and you could just filter by gender, sexual orientation, and monogamy/non-monogamy status without the premium version. That was a reason why a lot of queer polyam folks used it.
I suspect you're right and they just decided their customer was cis, straight dudes and didn't bother with us queer weirdos as a customer base 😕
@JoscelynTransient OKC doesn't actually filter accounts AT ALL. What it does is uses your preferences when computing the match weight, and then hides anyone under 50%. So it will absolutely show you people who are completely outside of your preferences, but match really well on personality tests.
