What people don't understand about a white trash bitch is that we take care of our own - we can be incredibly tender and compassionate to our community because we know no one else will take care of them or see the good in them that we do. But we will also throw down in a fucking instant for our people because that's how we survive.

This is my ethos and written into my very nervous system by survival and trauma.

A guilt that I carry is this.

I hate cleaning up dishes and tools for meal preparation. I hate it so much that I basically live on disposal plates and cutlery, like a monster. I hate it so much I will prepare mostly just slops to eat from one pot or something so I don't have to do anything.

If it takes longer to plan, get, make, and clean up after than it does to eat I don't want any part of it at all.

My partner? She loves to cook. She makes delicious, happy food that is a joy to eat...

As a food access dude

I get this

I really do

on levels I despair at getting food purists to grok.

"Most folks just want:need to eat!"

Doing all the puritain foodie stuff is radically massive priv.

the utter base sustainence.

me, doing fun & cool bicycle-based farm-market vegan:veggie catering (which I love, btw) won't mean a thing absent top-down radical change.

McD's going for recycle for carry out containers would change the game.

Purity matters not.

I have a big group chat with my a large amount of my real life friends, then smaller groups out of that group that have particular interests:

One is for the people who live locally to plan activities.

One is for art, but maybe the kind of art that not everyone would want to see.

One for BBQ and cocktails.

One where we talk about terrible home renovations and shit exes.

One specifically for handyman information and planning if someone moves or needs help with a project.

One where we seem to mostly talk about cute dogs, and often cheese.

Plus individual chats.

But now I'm wondering who has chats without me, do they have a secret chat where everyone talks about how I'm in everyone's business?!

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in a relationship?

Mine might sound kind of dark in relation to the question, but here goes:

People change, and they should, it's part of being a person. Some people are lucky, and they change in the same direction, but some don't, and that's okay too. There's no shame in leaving a relationship or changing the nature of a relationship that no longer serves you. We are all taught that every relationship, whether romantic or friendship, is supposed to last forever, but nothing is forever, and forcing something that no longer works, just ends in anger and bitterness. Knowing when to let go is as important as knowing when to hold on through a rough patch, and how to know either of those things is the most cliché advice of all, COMMUNICATE.

cpm,
@cpm@spore.social avatar

@RickiTarr
look out for one another.

it's a rough go

always has been

we all do better when we're supported

get through tough times by helping each other

has always been thus

it ain't all 'bout you

the very idea 'you' is everything & nothing at the same time

take some joy from that

Look. I know I'm cynical, but I'm just not comfortable using my credit card to pledge money to a private company that will then coerce my child to run laps around a gym while calling it a "Fun Run" in order to increase the amount of money said company 'gives' back to my child's school.

Okay, this might sound weird, but this is what I'm thinking of today. I'm assuming most of you know the idiom, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth." I know it's about looking at the horse's teeth to check it's age and health, but in my heart I have an alternate history where it's about The Trojan Horse, which doesn't really even make much sense, but it's still living there rent free.

So, does anyone else do this, make up alternate histories for words or phrases? If you do, I'd love examples!

Rainworld is a terrible unfun game, but of course the slugcats caught my attention. It's interesting how much of an anti-Buddhist message it pushes. The Drug Enforcement Administration will move to loosen restrictions on marijuana in what would be a historic shift in federal drug policy, according to multiple people familiar with the matter.

The measure, if enacted, would not instantly legalize marijuana at the federal level but could broaden access to the drug for medicinal use and boost cannabis industries in states where it is legal.

in the US, the gop wants to further raise 'the retirement' age.

As an old fart, me, this is a very bad idea from every angle. Every one of us, who is holding a 'straight job, is fully indoctrinated, not gonna make waves, is holding the job hostage, mostly out of economic necessity,bc we were stripped of benefits
