I've had reruns of "The Six Million Dollar Man" running in the background the last few days. It's playing on the Universal Action channel, free on services like Pluto and Roku Channel.

I only just learned the plane crash footage made infamous on this show really happened. The real world pilot, Bruce Peterson, survived but did not require cool bionics like Steve Austin. ๐Ÿฆพ

@gedeonm Wow, I never even heard of Automan. I just went and looked it up on IMDb to see if this was a joke. Don't know how I missed it back then.

I usually like a nice steak and asparagus on my birthday, too. Enjoy.

Which is your least favorite ep of The Original Series? ๐Ÿ‘Ž ๐Ÿ––

Kojo62,
@Kojo62@twit.social avatar

@gedeonm A write-in for "Turnabout Intruder" made worse than the rest by the tragic fact that it's the episode the original series ended on.

Thank goodness it ultimately wasn't the end of the franchise (although that was my reality as a kid, until TAS and TMP finally came along). Can you imagine? ๐Ÿ˜–

@gedeonm @Gte Interesting bit of trivia, I never knew that. Thanks.

I also remember one of the Star Trek novels I read many years ago had a young horta who ended up joining Starfleet. I would be hard pressed to remember which book now, though, I read so many. I might go dig through Memory-Beta to see if I can find it.

I have no idea if this is any good, but I like the artwork. I guess itโ€™s kaiju shochu? Crab man looks like he means business.

Kojo62,
@Kojo62@twit.social avatar

@FlockOfCats The crab man is a Baltan, one of the original prime villians of the universe. They gave me nightmares when I was a kid.

I can't quite make out the other two.

With all the posts about I decided to take the plunge. Started by re-watching the original movie starring James Spader & Kurt Russell. I had forgotten a lot of it. The last 1/3 of the flick is forgettable but the entire world building/discovery is compelling.

The pilot of SG-1 picks up a year after the events of the film & so far I like it. Richard Dean Anderson as Russellโ€™s character is interesting. Heโ€™s now the alpha male instead of the nerd (Macgyver), interesting role reversal

Kojo62,
@Kojo62@twit.social avatar

@gedeonm SG-1 became an all-time top 3 favorite for me, Babylon 5 and Star Trek(s) being the others. It built up quite a universe over its 10 seasons. So it'll just get richer, deeper, and better as you go along. It's a great ride.

What even is the point anymore of the Emergency Broadcast System in the US?

I mean, the government never even used the thing back while 9/11 was happening, which was the biggest emergency unfolding in real time ever, in my life at least. They left it to outlets like CNN to be our de-facto emergency system.

Seems like its only purpose is to forever run tests and annoy us all. "The System Who Cried Wolf."

Okay fans, what is one show that was canceled without a proper ending you would bring back?

My pick is Dark Matter:

Kojo62,
@Kojo62@twit.social avatar

@eosfpodcast I still haven't gotten over my anger at being canceled. I'd boycotted Syfy for that ever since, thought now I'm a cord-cutter. They even canceled it while it was their top rated scripted show, showing zero loyalty to us fans. I'll never forget and never ever forgive.

Good morning, all the early risers.

Rain moving in, so I'll likely work out at home instead of running. Visiting Dad later, and then I have a couple of virtual clients before I settle in to watch the Eagles/Patriots. ๐Ÿˆ

Hope you have some nice plans for Sunday?

Debating whether to watch some Star Trek Lower Decks, what do people think of it? There is a bit of a dirth of animated comedy done in Adobe Illustrator hey? I'm not a huge fan of that style of sarcastic incredulous eyeroll teen humour which is in so many shows. For me I have misgivings about the presence of full on comedy in Star Trek anyway. But should I give it a chance... ๐Ÿค” #lowerdecks

Kojo62,
@Kojo62@twit.social avatar

@davespice I didn't like Lower Decks at first. It just wasn't my kind of humor, and after season 1 ended, I thought I wouldn't watch it anymore.

But I gave it another chance in season 2, and it really grew on me. I now adore it and appreciate it for what it is, a love letter to trekkies made by real trekkies.

I recommend at least giving it a shot, keeping in mind also that the first season of almost every Trek show is rarely their best.

Paraphrasing Britannica, the Epoch is an unofficial interval of geologic time in which the collective activities of human beings began to substantially alter Earthโ€™s surface, atmosphere, oceans, and systems.

Lake Crawford in Ontario, Canada was chosen by the Anthropocene Working Group as the site with the sedimentary record used to define the beginning of the Anthropocene in the 1950s.

Gee, thanks humans. ๐Ÿ™„
