Was watching some SpongeBob SquarePants the other day. Caught this sneaky joke from Procrastination for the first time.

I love how many jokes they managed to pack into each episode. Sure is a shame they only made three seasons and one movie.

Album of the Day 221: Deltron 3030 by Deltron 3030

https://delthefunkyhomosapien.bandcamp.com/album/deltron-3030

2000 rap opera concept album. I'm generally not big on rap, but between catchy beats and some very unconventional (and nerdy) subject matters, this album is definitely an exception for me. The first song alone mentions Neuromancer, Ghost in the Shell and The Matrix. Wonderful stuff.

My picks: "3030," "Virus," "Time Keeps on Slipping"

@drheyzeus The only Tony Hawk game I know for certain I've played is Pro Skater 4, but I've heard nothing but good things about the Underground games.

I love finding out about great songs and bands through video games.

LadyMarth01,
@LadyMarth01@mstdn.games avatar

@grayson The "storyline" of the album is incredibly loose, so while it is a concept album, it's completely fine to listen to it in parts or just tracks that grab you.

Album of the Day 219: Super Meat Boy! - Digital Special Edition Soundtrack by Danny Baranowsky

https://dbsoundworks.bandcamp.com/album/super-meat-boy-digital-special-edition-soundtrack

2010 electronic OST from Seattle, Washington. Lots of goodies on the special edition: menu themes, unused tracks, Flash version tracks, remixes, etc.

Still really baffled by Danny refusing to allow this soundtrack on modern SMB ports.

My picks: "Can o' Salt (Ch 3 Light World)," "MATTIAS' MANMEAT MIX (REMIX)," "Meatcraft (REMIX)"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbBBl9jjW0U&list=OLAK5uy_luDhbxy6dPPvwMXKurKGooFqU__K1oX7M&index=1

1981 post-punk album from Boston, Massachusetts. Originally released as a six song EP, but over the years they've tacked on (to the beginning for some reason) two songs from their first single and two previously unreleased songs. Thankfully, they're all solid.

My picks: "Academy Fight Song," "That's When I Reach for My Revolver," "All World Cowboy Romance"

https://thetwilightsad.bandcamp.com/album/fourteen-autumns-and-fifteen-winters

2007 post-punk/post-rock album from Glasgow, Scotland. I only know about this band because of Saints Row 2, so thanks Volition!

My picks: "That Summer, At Home I Had Become The Invisible Boy," "Talking With Fireworks / Here, It Never Snowed," "And She Would Darken The Memory"

Album of the Day 216: Juice B Crypts by Battles

https://battles.bandcamp.com/album/juice-b-crypts

2019 experimental rock/math rock album from NYC. Cut down to two members by this point, but when the two are John Stanier (Helmet, Tomahawk) on drums and Ian Williams (Don Cab, Storm & Stress) on guitars and synths, you're still good. The loss of Dave Konopka definitely hurts this album, but it's a good one regardless.

My picks: "A Loop So Nice..." "They Played It Twice," "Fort Greene Park"

Just realized that lately my Mastodon feed has been mostly just bot accounts... which means people have been quieter or more absent.

You all still out there?

LadyMarth01,
@LadyMarth01@mstdn.games avatar

@Gwendolyn Beep boop I am a bot. :robot_joy:

I find that I rarely engage beyond favorites/boosts. I just don't feel like I have much to add to most conversations, either from lack of knowledge, or because somebody else already said what I would.

Album of the Day 215: Heaven's Youth by STRFKR

https://starfucker.bandcamp.com/album/heavens-youth

2012 synthpop album consisting of demo versions of all of the songs off of Reptilians. While the final versions on Reptilians are more polished, there's something really neat about hearing these earlier, rougher recordings.

My picks: "Jackalope (Julius) (Van Mix)," "Astoria - Original Recording," "Quality Time - Skeletron Mix)"

Album of the Day 214: ARC by This is Your Captain Speaking

2013 post-rock album from Melbourne, Australia. A bit more drawn out, pushing into ambient at times, which really works for me.

My picks: "Whisky Waltz," "Six Mile Gain"

Got back into Sentinels of the Multiverse Enhanced Edition recently thanks to a friend with a near complete collection. Got what Greater Than Games had on clearance, and picked up Sentinels of Earth-Prime, too.

Unfortunately, getting what I'm missing (Wrath of the Cosmos, Shattered Timelines, a bunch of mini expansions) would involve buying someone else's collection off the GeekMarket or eBay, including the base game and expansions that I already own. 🫠

LadyMarth01,
@LadyMarth01@mstdn.games avatar

@RogerBW I already had the base game and Rook City/Infernal Relics.

Base game of Definitive Edition: ~$50

Villains of the Multiverse, Vengeance, Oblivaeon, Foil Hero Cards + Variants, Foil Large Villain cards + variants, and five mini expansions + shipping: ~$70

That said, having played the Definitive Edition once, there's definitely some solid improvements. Part of me is tempted to start picking that up, too. 😆

LadyMarth01,
@LadyMarth01@mstdn.games avatar

@RogerBW Perhaps I'll wait for them to do a Ultimate Collector's Box for the Definitive Edition to jump ship.

Currently watching Shameless where (lacking) health insurance in the USA is a huge thing. People having to pay amounts like 60.000 $ or more to survive, it's so horrible. I tried researching what kind of (public) health insurances there are but it's very confusing. I'm paying 300€/Month, a certain % of my income, and mostly everything is covered (complex dental stuff and glasses are not, this sucks).

LadyMarth01,
@LadyMarth01@mstdn.games avatar

@blue America's pretty great if you're rich or have the right connections.

Failing that, it's okay as long as you're healthy.

Failing that... Yeah, I've got nothing.

Album of the Day 213: Bone Machine by Tom Waits

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7I4kSpS43o&list=OLAK5uy_kUdWUw6Gu7Qf0S2bqHtg_OK5mtO8kr6Xo&index=1

1992 experimental rock album from everybody's favorite carnival barker who's been gargling gravel and whiskey in the moments of his life where he wasn't smoking.

I joke, but Tom Waits' voice is certainly wonderfully distinct.

"Such a Scream" almost sounds like a Captain Beefheart track.

My picks: "The Earth Died Screaming," "Such A Scream," "I Don't Wanna Grow Up"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHER1RmSqA8&list=PL6ogdCG3tAWjWskN7Av6hzlVa9GE15ofK&index=1

1995 prog rock live album. Only recently discovered the DVD cut material from the album. The first disc is mostly post-Waters material, which is pretty hit-or-miss for me on the albums, but mostly great live. Second disc has DSOTM and extras. The lap steel guitar solo on "High Hopes" is the best.

1973 funk/psychedelic soul album from Cincinnati, Ohio. "That Lady" may be the popular song on the album, but I honestly prefer some of the other tracks. Their version of "Summer Breeze" might just top the Seals and Crofts version for me.

My picks: "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight," "What It Comes Down To," "Summer Breeze, Pts. 1 & 2"

Album of the Day 208: Impressions For Headphones by Brian Green

2019 ambient album from Los Angeles, California. A collection of short and sweet ambient pieces, mostly with a guitar focus. Some really pleasant pedal steel guitar work on some of the tracks.

My picks: "Impressions in F Major," "Impressions in A Minor," "Impressions in A Major"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZri_BOuRy0&list=OLAK5uy_mUfj7Y7gmYjyslM2DuYAIXQ6WAMutMvq4&index=1

2017 ambient album. Tom Rogerson improvising on piano, and Brian Eno manipulating the recorded piano, adding things around it, and turning it into something new.

My picks: "Idea of Order at Kyson Point," "Motion in Field," "The Gabbard"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61PMgwdGOQg&list=PL-RhBQLVTWxctbRAUH4tsJHkzNYYxc6K5&index=1

1971 prog rock album from Blackpool, England. I'm a fan of any band that can fit flute solos into rock songs, and Jethro Tull certainly delivered that here in a great prog rock package.

My picks: "Aqualung," "My God," "Locomotive Breath"

1979 new wave/post-punk album from Swindon, England. I absolutely love the guitar solo on "Complicated Game." Easily my favorite song on the album.

My picks: "Making Plans for Nigel," "Ten Feet Tall," "Complicated Game"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1LiVYeh3SM&list=OLAK5uy_lMPDJlv4rlvO3OsfASQmMdCRFIfLSH2CI&index=1

1973 art/prog pop album from Stockport, England. Absurdist pop that at times reminds of Zappa or Ween, but also throw in some doo-wop or Beach Boys influences in there for good measure. Also some great subjects matters: a kid who wants to join a biker gang, a Charles Atlas comic adaptation, and a prison riot gone wrong.

My picks: "Sand in my Face," "Headline Hustler," "Rubber Bullets"
