I just spent a little while on this project - I recovered a UMATIC Tape that had the crew chatter of the director and camera operators for a 1974 live concert recording. I remixed the sound, did noise reduction, and now we have a very rare piece of professional TV history up and available for people to see.

Two reasons I won't go near Tubi for video entertainment:

  1. The odious Murdoch family controls it.

Tubi had about $40 million invested when sold to Fox for $440m in 2020. Founded 2014 with HQ in San Francisco, always had a good amount of indie fare & docs plus many key female execs including CEO. Top ad supported streaming site has never had an option for paid subscriptions, founded by AdRise and built a FREE all ad supported biz model. Even Roku makes majority of its revenues through streaming ads & sponsorships, not selling hardware. Only real change at Tubi I've seen , besides a $2B valuation now,,is the ad buy link redirects to FOX ad solutions website..

    @shoq I've talked to professionals in the field within University of California and they anticipated this years ago, and from their perspective, it shouldn't affect their DEI work as far as their concerned. They also are not beholden to display any strategy materials for newly interested armchair observers to gawk at and punch holes in.
