Two images of one of Curiosity Rover's wheels acquired 13 months apart. These show that the wheel wear has slowed dramatically.

Perseverance rover is checking out the condition of its systems after solar conjunction. In this image we can see the rover's 'Bit Carousel' (image center). The rover acquired this photo using its SHERLOC WATSON camera, located on the turret at the end of the rover's robotic arm. The raw image was acquired on December 2, 2023 (Sol 990) at the local mean solar time of 11:45. NASA/JPL-Caltech

Mars Guy Episode 116:

Five days without downlink from Mars.

The Perseverance rover sends back a daily stream of images from its many cameras, which are quickly posted to a NASA public website. But on June 16th, the stream dried up, fueling concerns with each passing day.

Curiosity Rover: Mission sol 4142. Robotic arm workspace featuring part of 'Hinman Col', a poorly sorted collection of clasts located along the margin of Gediz Vallis ridge in Gale crater on the planet Mars. 24 overlapping R-MastCam images were assembled into this mosaic using MS-ICE. Ingenuity Mars Helicopter has completed its 62nd flight. Here's a processed RTE image acquired during the flight looking Northeast and featuring 'Jurabi Point' (a future science stop for the rover). The flight was on October 12th (Sol 940) and landed at ~10:25am local time, indicating a very healthy charge in the helicopters batteries. The helicopter landed ~25 meters NE of airfield Tau. Drive on Sol 1124 to site 51.5030. Looks like a nice location for SuperCam to take a peep at the west side of the ripple where Ingenuity is collecting data.

Observing the results of your laser tests with your ⍉110mm telescope.

's SUPERCAM telescope is concentric with its two laser beams coming out from a 1200W laser diode (and a low power third one used in auto-focus). And has a microphone to hear the laser blasts and the Martian wind.

I thought it was cool that the Titanium plate is not only used to calibrate the laser at different temperatures, but also to determine the speed of sound on Mars :) https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11214-020-00764-w

Mars Guy - Episode 149
'Perseverance is in a jam'
Early in January Perseverance deployed its SHERLOC instrument on a rock, and nothing happened. The dust cover hadn’t opened. Ten sols later, it opened, but only partially. Is this now the end of a mission critical tool?

The images are from December 27, 2023 (sol 4049) at site 105/1108 after a short drive/climb a few sols earlier. Any idea where JPL have moved the Mars mission maps to? The old URL for M20 and MSL are broken. They have just reformatted a number of mission pages (raw images, home pages etc), but I cant find the new URLs for the maps...

The maps are back, same URLs and no visible request for cookies :)
