Iain Dale & James O'Brien much exercised by interview with Tzipi Hotovely, Israel's ambassador to the UK and a right-wing colleague of Likud's PM, Netanyahu:

"Gaza has an underground tunnel city ... that Hamas has built... every school, every mosque, every second house has access to those tunnels..."

Dale: "that is an argument for flattening the whole of Gaza,..."

Outrageous exaggeration, - Israel plans to destroy only every second house.

Why haven't we heard this before?

It turns out that we've known since 2012 that the global imposition of in the world's response to the crisis imposed by the financial crash of 2008 was justified by an economics paper based on a spreadsheet that contained a couple of coding errors.

If the knew this, why have they continued to sanctimoniously impose their flawed ideology on the UK for the last decade?

Cos it suits them...

@Vonskinnback

The paper was not written by a student but by two eminent professors of the Dismal Science - Economics.

It was the student who, on finding that he couldn't replicate their findings from the data pestered them until they released to him their actual spreadsheet and in checking it he uncovered the erroneous calculations of the means that led to their false conclusions (which is of course the essence of the Scientific Method).

Good Morning, all

Nick Ferrari on complains that the Met Police are inviting transfer passengers at London airports to report instances of Israeli war crimes committed in Gaza (for reporting onward to the ).

Ferrari then plays again another of Netanyahu's shills blaming Hamas for the IDF's incessant killing of civilians (and Israeli hostages held) in Gaza.

Just cos your enemy presents you with human shields does not mean that you, regularly, have to strike them down.

Sickening.

Still believe there is Glory in War?

Perhaps what Netanyahu's Israel 'Defence' Force is doing in the Gaza Strip, which is resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians - most of them women and children, isn't War, Glorious or otherwise?

In which case, what should it be called?

Good Morning, all

Apparently Biden is pushing for $24 billion in (mostly) military aid for Ukraine to defend itself from Vladimir Putin's invasion. USA spend around $850 billion on defence.

The Republican Party's opposition to President Biden's support for Ukraine makes one wonder which Republic the GOP represents?

The United States of America?

Or the Russian Federation?

The Tesla Cybertruck inspires in me the belief that Leon Musk skimped on the number of 3D-CAD pixels used to create it...

It's just so low resolution.

Can't imagine a world in which Leon Musk's Tesla Cybertruck corners the market (well, I doubt it could corner anything else)...?

Think of a world in which every front garden includes a discarded refrigerator. You certainly couldn't fit one in a Tesla Sibertruk to take it to the dump.

A question for those 'Hang 'Em High' Tories who want to see the Death Penalty return for those convicted of the unlawful killing of another person, what criminal sanction do they think should be meted out to an individual who presides over the unlawful killing of up to 230,000 individuals by his mishandling of a pandemic?

'

And no, I do not think any circumstances justify the return of capital punishment.

I'm confused... So is NOT a Safe Country for the purposes of deporting marble statues but is a Safe Country for the deportation of actual living human beings?

What impact will the age of the two leading contenders for the 2024 election to the US Presidency have on the future of America and the World? What would be the reaction to the death of POTUS 47 in office?

If POTUS 47 is Joe Biden, the reaction would be sorrow and sympathy.

If POTUS 47 is Donald Trump, America and the World would breathe a deep sigh of relief.

's Nick Ferrari doesn't like David Cameron. Nick is harping on about how Lord Cameron of Huggahoodie (has HOLAC approved his elevation?) once referred to Gaza as "a prison camp."

That's wrong; prison camps hold those convicted of crimes. Perhaps better to call Gaza an Israeli concentration camp, where Palestinians are punished collectively be they guilty or innocent. Can Palestinians leave Gaza? Emigrate? Move elsewhere in Israel/Palestine?

Gaza is "a prison camp."

The front cover of Private Eye 1610: Headline: Special Non-Offensive cover. The image is of four adorable Labrador puppies. The puppy of the left is yapping and the speech bubble reads Humanitarian paws, anyone? A pun on the phrase humanitarian pause, obviously. The sub-headline reads Inside: Private Eye is going to the dogs.

Yep. Climate Change Denialists endlessly cry that Climate Change Models Are Wrong. Probably they are right - a model is not the real thing, it always makes assumptions, ignores certain factors and lower order effects for ease of calculation, etc etc.

But the skeptics and deniers never contemplate the possibility that Climate Change Models may be too conservative not too sensationalist in their predictions of global warming and its impact.
