  1. My birthday yesterday, and it was lovely.
  2. My lovely spouse’s today, and attempts to make it special (in spite of a request for no gifts and us both being too caught up in life stuff to plan much together) apparently were well received.
  3. Kiddo’s illustrations on cards for each of us were funny and expressive and pretty sophisticated for a 14yo. More proud dad moments!

  2. And even though I pushed the wrong button twice, I did actually manage to record enough to share with family.
  3. Celebration (bribe) sushi afterwards was so yummy.

(Kiddo was adamant about not playing in public. Hence Monday evening sushi restaurant visit. Also got to choose own music - their rendition of a #TobyFox song from #Undertale was definitely a 4th good thing for the evening! Bribes were also treats to us!)

  1. After seeing an article, kiddo said they’d never thought of there being dust in space before. I replied that it piles up because Nature abhors a vacuum. #DadJokes still count if they don’t land, right?
  2. Gifted some Pashtun rugs turned into cushions to neighbors. Loved them for a good while, glad they have homes.
  3. Made Ube mochi #pancakes for breakfast. First time. Wow. Think I can use the same mix for mini mochi muffins.❤️ (From mix this time, but will get flours next time!)

For our to last, we need a credible and loyal party. For all the handwringing among my dear , are going to get their asses handed to them in November. Hopefully there is enough of a 🌊 to give a chance to repair more of their vandalism, but everyone goes overboard if there are no dissenting voices.

  1. Grading some capstone papers - and they are well-written! (Not always true, sadly.)
  2. Spouse unfortunately caught COVID after dodging it for four years, but so far everyone else in the house is miraculously negative!
  3. Kiddo actually requested leftover lasagna I made for tomorrow’s lunch. Proud cook! (Not at all a master chef over here.)

Overdue post - it’s been busy and a rollercoaster! Picking up the habit again.

  1. My sister got the and it nearly killed her (25% lung capacity at one point, induced coma, proned, the works) - but it didn’t!
  2. We’re six siblings, and we have the means to go to her to help with recovery.

Our neighbor, a close friend of my spouse’s, passed away last week. John Thomas was a with a master’s in mathematics from . He was a master of , die-struck and . He was also just a sweet, generous and curious guy.

Besides mourning his passing, we were struck by how many people from the block were looking out for John, people who went out of their way to care for the quiet in apartment 3. More than we even knew about.
