I live in an apartment building & my landlord kindly allows me to garden. A neighbor approached me about starting some vegetables so we've added some heirloom tomatoes, sweet peppers, kale, & turnips along with some purple basil to my flower garden. We've got our 1st tomato and peppers forming👍

The aforementioned turnips and kale. These have been a bit buggy but it's not too surprising since my purpose for the flower garden is to attract insects and arachnids. Hopefully, we'll achieve the right balance of predators to keep the veggie eaters at bay🤞

This plant is called prairie blazing star (Liatris pycnostachya) and it is a native where I live. I just planted it this spring. I'm excited about this one. Online pictures suggest the blooms are very cool and the plant is already around 3' tall.

Getting my first lacy phacelia (Phacelia tanacetifolia) blooms. I believe it's native to the US but not the midwest. I love it!

Not the best sweat bee pic but will hopefully catch a sweat bee with purple pollen on its hind legs at some point.

My clematis blooms have already come and gone. This was their 2nd year. Last year there were two bloom cycles. Maybe this year🤞. However, I think clematis have the most wonderful seed heads. They are silky and actually very soft to the touch 👍.

Unexpectedly I had a common milkweed volunteer pop up next to my houseplants. Too cool! It's already got some significant bug activity. There's a bit of an infestation in the top leaves (see curling) and here's a random ant and red fly. If I get any seed heads I'll distribute them out back 👍.

I grew a 3' high zinnia plant indoors in a 5" pot 2 yrs ago (see reply to this post), had 3 blooms, harvested seeds, gained a garden, sowed last year, harvested seeds. This👇 yrs crop. It was variety pack so random colors occur based on the seed. This year, 🟠 &🟡 .

Late entry to this thread cause this just popped yesterday. This is supposed to be plains coreopsis. I especially like the copper buds 👍. The seeds were a gift from my landlady from whom I inherited the garden so I was especially excited to let her know they bloomed.

It's the second year of my garden. Last fall I borrowed a cup of bee balm znd purple coneflower plants from my friend and they are getting ready to pop. I'm a big fan of this variety of bee balm. The bloom's leaves started turning magenta prior to the magenta blooms forming 👍.

In the US we usually refer to this variety as the tiger lily. This pic is from last year.

Those are beautiful!

There's some amazing varieties of Asiatic lilies out there. Some incredible yellows and shades of red/pink.

This👇 (taken 2021) is what we usually refer to as a leopard lily but I believe it's actually a member of the iris family. Or at least that's what I've read. The leaves definitely look much more like an iris than a lily.

I've spent the last 15 minutes trying to upload 3 photographs (339 Kb, 1.6 Mb, 5.7 Mb) to a post on Mastodon. This is the rule, not the exception. I know others on other instances who've given up posting photos to Mastodon. I want to stay on a decentralized social media platform but not if it has limited functionality. Please reply/boost & copy your admin if you have similar problems. I'm not looking for a "fix", I'm looking to bring this recurring issue to the attention of ALL admins.

I don't want to move to another social media platform. But uploading photos is what I consider a basic function. While that function may work for some, for many of us it is a frustratingly constant issue & I've a strong feeling that those who experience this on their servers do not know what to do because they've never been on decentralized social media. Unlike most, I do not spend that much time on Mastodon. If I have to spend the bulk of that time fighting technical issues then 🤷‍♂️

This👇 is the post I had to try repeatedly to upload. I had no problem uploading the first two photos (339 Kb, 1.6 Mb) but it would time out each time I tried to upload the 3rd (5.7 Mb). I just tried the 3rd again by itself. Twice. It timed out. I just checked my upload speed. It is 16 Mbps.

I attempted to upload the photo three times just now and timed it each time. The first time it uploaded after 42 seconds. It is often the case when I have this issue that it will sometimes work after several tries which is why I normally make several attempts. The 2nd and 3rd time it timed out and gave the message "503 service not available".

Thank you. The person who has been unable to post his sunrise photos is @Dr_Brian_Pet. I've had random interactions with other random individuals who've been unable to post photos. I'm sorry that I did not bookmark those discussions but I will bookmark this discussion in case I encounter someone with similar issues in the future.
