@btschumy@ai6yr Yeah…I doubt anyone who took that course with me has eaten raw meat since. What activities are you referring to? Swimming in lakes, streams? Any foods other than raw meat?
@mjausson I once had to investigate and report on a similar accident. The difference was that it was a flatbed truck with a missile launching system that was strapped to it that wouldn’t fit under a bridge. The launching system cost well over a million dollars. I had to figure out what went wrong since the route was carefully planned. It turned out that they hadn’t used the truck that was specified, they used a taller one. It was a very expensive mistake. The bridge that had been built by a public works program during the depression was significantly damaged but still usable as I recall, concrete is tough. Parts of the missile launching system were tore off and fell on the road.
@ai6yr Kind of amazed that it landed back in Florida. I wonder how many of those rather substantial parts landed somewhere else in the world and harmlessly buried themselves in the ground on impact never to be discovered or if so, recognized for what they are? 🤔
@shonin@ai6yr Yeah, that thought had occurred to me. I had wondered if a marine archeologist might think they found Atlantis or something, someday. But the chances of anyone noticing one coming down anywhere must be very small.
The Flooding Will Come “No Matter What” by Abrahm Lustgarten April 11
The complex, contradictory & heartbreaking process of American climate migration is underway.
"...People have always moved as their environment has changed. But today, the climate is warming faster, and the population is larger, than at any point in history.
As the U.S. gets hotter, its coastal waters rise higher, its wildfires burn larger & its droughts last longer, the notion that humankind can triumph over nature is fading and with it...goes the belief that self-determination & personal preference can be the driving factors in choosing where to live.
...a sweeping change is coming in the shape & location of communities across America, a change that promises to transform the country’s politics, culture & economy.
It has already begun. More Americans are displaced by catastrophic climate-change-driven [disasters] every year..."
@shekinahcancook Yep, friends of mine moved north to the puget sound area because of the drought and coming climate change. I wanted to go too but all our relatives are in Southern California and Ventura will probably manage better than most towns. My daughter moved to the desert for cheap housing. I’m afraid that they are going to regret that move.
“J.D. Power’s 2024 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience Home Charging Study found EV owners more satisfied with home chargers this year than last…..The improvement may come down to owners getting used to living with an EV. J.D. Power notes, “All three charging segments (levels) see year-over-year increases in overall problems among owners.” The most common problem among all owners was an inconsistent internet connection.”
@ai6yr The have the charger mounted outside on the front of the garage? I’m wondering if I’m missing out on something not having an internet connection on mine. I’m not too much into having all the bells and whistles.
Waiting for our first grandchild to be born at any moment. People are a little too preoccupied right now to put out hourly updates. Enjoying my evening scotch earlier than usual.
@juandesant No problem, I tend to forget to do it along with lots of other things these days. Just out of curiosity, do you know if the reader can read text in memes?
