I am reading Our Man in Havana by Grahame Greene.

It has a Kafkaesque air to it with the everyday and mundane suddenly becoming sinister and surreal.

Still on the very early pages, but for some reason I find it a bit lacking. I get the impression the author is more interested in letting you know how much he is into rock and how many doors that has opened for him than in telling the story of the band… we’ll see if it gets better 🤔

Nice and easy recovery day today. I’ve been trying the Apple Fitness+ “Time to run” workouts and I really like them. My only beef sometimes is the music selection. I know they have to go for the widest slice of their potential users, but I really wish they had some heavier tracks instead of just generic pop. On the plus side, since I’m not into the music it kinda becomes white noise with a beat, so I get less distracted during my run. Win some, lose some I guess 😅

Today I attempted my first 5K since I developed asthma, and since that stupid SI joint incident I had pretty much exactly a year ago.

And I can't believe it, but I completed it in full, with no walking breaks!! 🥳🎉

I didn't think I could do it, so I'm def still in shock. I had been following along with a 5K training plan, but it only had me do 3.2K (2mi) runs as the longest distance -- anyways, they clearly know something I don't, because after 3.5k it actually felt really good!?

I even improved on my pre-asthma PB by 2 mins, so I'm just really happy right now! 😭 CELEBRATE WITH ME 🥳

My plan is to sign up for another 5K Coach program in a week or so, one that has a target pace slightly faster than today (so... still slow, but less so 😂), and I'm signed up for two 5K races for the summer. We'll see how it goes! 👟

Also, thanks for your secret sauce, and also to modern medicine for allowing me to breathe normally even when exercising!!
