When the first buzz about Tesla started, I assumed they'd found some new battery chemistry & that this was a big deal. Then I found out that, no, they just used "COTS" cells … lots & lots & lots of them to the point that some of their vehicles look like there is a huge slab of cells under the passengers … because there is a huge slab of cells under the passengers.

Downhill from there, of course, esp w/"FSD".

Now it turns out they don't even know how to make decent cars at all.

It's rats all the way down - Maersk, the big name, won't pay a dime. All the other sub sub sub contractors are there to fail at the slightest push and will.

I'm sure if they can find a way to scapegoat the surely-foreign crew -- employed by the subcontractor that hires crews for the subcontractor that supplies ships to the companies that sell the space to the shipping company -- well, that will just be a bonus.

I decided to re-enlist (heh) in the . There are small but positive signs of progress there, and I figure that they probably dismiss complaints/observations from non-members out of hand... My hope is that they step up and show some actual leadership with regard to politics, diversity, hate speech, etc. It's a ridiculously low bar but it would be a further step in the right direction.

@croyle I'm a Lifer so sort of stuck. :) DEI aside, they don't do well w/their existing programs, being the most poorly managed, followed by their awards programs. WAY too much manual intervention for the latter, poor vision for the former.

AFAIK, the ARRL Forklift is still running around the ARRL Book Warehouse as if it's 1984.

They are failing on many fronts, sadly.

One good thing they did before the recent ball-dropping was to allow members access to all 4 periodicals.

UTC has no am or pm - 00:00-23:59 (yeah, there is a 24:00 & a 23:59:60 but never mind).

Hz is not an abbreviation, it's a symbol for the unit hertz, indicating 1 cycle per second. 1000 Hz is 1 kHz, k being the prefix for kilo (x10^3).

K is the symbol for kelvins, a unit of temperature measurement. It is not a degree. It is currently 274 K where I am. Each kelvin is the same value as a degree celsius.

Good bye, paper . I am one of those LMs the Pres (not the CEO) takes a bit of a shot at ... but not to worry as I've already opted out of the paper QST as its value had dropped over time. Making all 4 pubs available to all members electronically, was one of the few good choices the BOD has made lately. Now that the BOD has made paper QST optional, it will be gone in 5 years or less.
