@paradoxmo Not quite my speed, but I appreciate both the post, and the variations in the ink.

I am not particularly a fan of the color, mostly because a vaguely similar ink (color verse comet SL9) has not been kind to me in a variety of pens, but I do love nuance, and your swatch has it in spades.

If I am capable of recognising it, it’s bc I am intimately familiar w/ it - right or wrong.

By same token, as child of early eighties, I’ve wronged a ton of people on the way to finding my values as an adult who doesn’t give a damn what one’s private life looks like.

I can’t address that, in good faith, nor make amends, but I can work towards truth and justice for others similarly wronged.

Respect for “yeah you’re an asshole, but I see it bc so am I.”

Anybody have a 'low-effort' crock-pot-kinda Thanksgiving they want to share?

I lack the energy to fully meal prep, and have had success w/ and freezing, but the prep time is crazy.

@Mrfunkedude if I could include low-effort bread in this as well, w/o sacrificing quality, I'd be a fan of that.

How can I cook, freeze, reheat, and safely eat poultry, salty af stuffing, and mashed potatoes, in an efficient way?

@Mrfunkedude Sourdough, our fridge isn't wholly unfit for good bacteria.

Bread daily that I don't have to make daily sounds amazing.

Recall from youth sourdough is easy & tasty, & not total mess to clean up.

Have enough energy to want good/local/etc food, but little enough I have to be cognizant of it. Think you know what I mean.

Think that (med term) kneading would be better physical therapy for the shoulder than 'actual' phys therapy, too, which is a bonus.

@Nonilex We are long past the stage where any level of intervention can solve these problems. Why do people drink/use drugs? Because their life is hot garbage and they (justifiably) can't cope.

Fix THAT, and drug use declines rapidly. But no, that would take money and 'giving' people things.

So I have this hypothesis that people who never listen to music past their teenage years do so because of a traumatic event in their childhood.

Music became a comfort to them during this time which switched it from being just enjoyable, to being enjoyable plus emotionally comforting.

Hence the desire not to listen to music outside of that comfort zone because any music past that, is no longer comforting and no longer serves a need.

Or not. I don't know. It's just a thought.

I still listen to some current music (have trouble with current crop of country music), and things I grew up on.

Now, I find myself hearing and understanding far more nuances. Sometimes that’s good, and sometimes that makes me realize how much the world has changed since.

I like the idea of #FuckOffFriday, bc there are days when I desperately NEED to rant. It's the perfect tag. Of course, I won't use it only on Fridays bc my brain is really a sieve these days and I don't always remember things on Fridays, or on other days, either.

Today's Fuck Off Friday topic is pain. Pain is a GREAT incentive to swear. Did you know swearing actually reduces pain levels? Yes, it does. I read it somewhere. Of course, I forget WHERE.

I am #fountainpen hobbyist, and would be interested, but bleed-through is a problem. Willing to print on paper of my choice as well.

I recently turned 40-something, and decided that I’m ok with whatever makes me happy, deals w/ anxiety, etc. anyone judgy of my comfort zone gets booted.

Looking for outlets, this sounds like one. With shimmer inks, and any color I’m feeling in the moment.

@andrew @annmlipton My company is doing a laptop refresh currently, and I’m both slated for a new Win 11 machine, and for my current machine to be “upgraded.”

I feel your statement very much. My first many computers worked just fine either way. This has been a long term goal of the primary OS vendor of biz machines.

Doesn’t change what i run on my personal machine, but we all know they hope for that influence.

Being chronically ill, & managing healthcare system and the changing rules (my company) on 401(k) withdrawals for hardship takes shred of energy I have left mid afternoon.

I’d be more peace / less anxious if insurers met their supplemental health obligations.

But seeing someone, easing them in on hardcore issues, hoping for meaningful therapy/guidance in dealing w/

Also, I wish that neighbor would stop whistling obnoxiously when trying to find sleep.

@Mrfunkedude 2/2 legit don’t know how folks w/o supplemental form employer make it the years required to get SSDI. Travesty.

Just want 10 fewer hours a week for the next few to 25 short term limit weeks. Like Job. Want to keep doing it. Just can’t make it through full day without using meds inappropriately which I won’t do. That would burn my whole life down, because stupid things are C2.

Were you therapist in prev life? A little similarity makes it easy to respond.

I live in relatively small MSA, but near a number of critical infra locations.

They want to terrorize entire states, or regions, and blame it on brown/black people, but if some power infra blows up that impacts me and half my state, I know damn well who did it.

AQ can’t ATM, no other minority would, and lone/small group actors are lower-impact.

Fuck these Nazis, and fuck Facism.

$100K for a car that you can't wash in the sun, rusts in the rain, can't drive on snow or sand, gets stuck on hills, can't charge when it's cold, and sometimes blows up, killing occupants. Wow. Not a fan of “made in America” sort of tariffs, but it’s clear that Beijing leadership is behind trying to send these vehicles.

Understand they got into Mexico, so we’ll get some, but I shudder to think what Beijing would do w/ my daily travels. Correlate a trip to pharmacy w/ stolen data abt my scrips? Or worse.

@Mrfunkedude Inherited “multi-sneeze” from a parent, it’s basically incapacitating when it happens, for as long as it lasts.

I feel that.

Certain OTC meds == sleep for me, so I mostly manage to coincidentally avoid the allergies these days, but it’s crazy the way evolution managed to decide that a throat can be stuffed full, but a nose needs to get rid of whatever is in it, violently.

My wife was on seizure meds that ruined her teeth, and went through “eating w/o some teeth,” “eating on pain meds,” “eating w/o more teeth,” and finally just getting them all pulled.

It was brutal for her, for a short-ish time, and then suddenly w/ the temp replacements, it “just worked.”

Watched it all, and was I in awe of her strength and character through it all.

Mouth and related pain is no joke. Hope you’re able to get the appropriate care ongoing.

@Mrfunkedude im sorry there’s nothing to be done - that’s an area that’s both difficult, and where we’ve screwed up insurance, etc.

It’s a damn shame that the concept of “deal with it” exists.

I had my doubts when she went in, and recovery sucked, but it’s night and day - pain vs no pain, and all the life stuff that leads to.

She’s sometimes back to the sheer joy of when I met her, and we first hugged. Not just pain, but headspace.

I’m over the moon she’s in so much better of a place.
