Removing pops from a vinyl record rip is tedious as hell. I was trying to come up with a better (or automated) way to identify where pops are without listening to the entire thing in real time, and I thought of using a derivative of the signal (the idea being that pops should show as abrupt changes).

But then I just stumbled upon a simple solution: looking at the spectrogram!

Pops show as ghostly bars in the background of the signal.

After accidentally visiting a spammy website I am getting suspicious and short-lived #popup windows with a grey border in the corner of the screen. Their text seems to always starts with (A). The first one was ostensibly about Norton, this one McAfee. Tough to verify any fix since they only appear once in a while; I did get a photo of one:

Highly doubt these were first created on computers; where in the world have rectangular #tiles or #bricks carried a textual message? Been talking to a fair few of my ethics class students (a vocational program to become a UX Designer), and essentially all of them express doubt that it will be possible to work in an ethically-aligned way once they find employment.

To be clear: they want to, but they just don’t think it will be possible.

How the hell did we end up here, that the expected default is that companies will necessarily harm the wellbeing of their stakeholders, and that these same companies (read: individuals in upper management positions) won’t care to do better when a more compassionate path is made available to them…
