I love good intuitive design, web accessibility, semantic HTML, and lovely #CSS; they're good. Brexit on the other hand, is a negative-only caustic pile of balls. 🇬🇧 🇨🇦

Just found another use case for @Iconfactory Tot app.

Wanted a one-liner text reminder on my lockscreen, but a better solution was that Tot c/w a lockscreen widget; an even neater solution.

@SteveFaulkner Would I be right in thinking ARC Toolkit is not yet available for Firefox?

About to do some a11y testing and I’ll do it on Chrome if it’s not yet ready for Firefox; just wanted to check my searches for it were not the problem.

@SteveFaulkner Thanks Steve, understandable (big investment in time). Thanks for the quick confirmation.

Want to control Audible from an Apple Watch? Want a (great UX) media player as a permanent complication? I’m not affiliated in any way, but I do value good design. Thanks @Iconfactory https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/now-playing-plus/id6443591394

Britain is sicker and poorer than it used to be. Sunak’s response? Attack disabled people … With his claims of a ‘sicknote culture’, the prime minister is scapegoating those worst affected by 14 years of Conservative rule

Sometimes I get lucky. This week’s wallpaper turned out better than I had hoped. Enjoy!

@gedeonm @Iconfactory Wow, just found all your other apps & gone on a bit of a downloading rampage (including, so far, buying iPulse)

‘Now Playing’ watch complication? Wtaf? HUGE! A beautiful way to finally control awful Audible etc

Churlish handbrake turn feature request: if iPulse could spot me being on a known wifi and noise alert me if an app is using cellular… (⬅️ not why I posted this)

Very long time owner of xScope & ❤️er of Tot and Ivory — Thank you for your 👌 apps!

ARIA is all too often used in the same way someone buys a Tesla and then, knowing it has “auto pilot”, turns it on and then has a nap.

@patrick_h_lauke Brilliant. I’d forgotten this, I should have just boosted it; says it all 👌

So duplicate IDs (F77) no longer mean a WCAG fail as they refer to 4.1.1 (obsolete)?

I thought I had read duplicate IDs still fail, even though 411 is obsolete..?

Love how the peerless ARC Toolkit Chrome extension links to v2.2 SCs not 2.1. Not sure what I expected, but it’s just nice to see that it does 😊

I have always found it trivial to generate unique IDs programmatically (client- or server-side) and not too difficult to do it manually (such as the IDs I put on my headings to allow for anchor links).

Not nearly as difficult as naming things (nor cache invalidation).

When someone says it’s difficult and I scoff, am I being too dismissive? What am I missing?

alan42,
@alan42@mastodon.social avatar

@aardrian Same. I have a key combo in Sublime Text that pings a plugin and just barphs out “a11yn“ where “n” is the date time string. Also fun (occasionally helpful) of showing when I added them. I use these same stamps in CSS comments to link two separate but related areas in a CSS file.

I was wrong to ignore Zigbee and Z-Wave. They’re the best part of my smart home.

There's plenty of room for this early-aughts tech in a modern connected space.
