These are a few of the prefabs I have that get stamped on the map before the wave function collapse. The final game will have hundreds of them. Not sure if I should create the procedural quests and then pick prefabs the quest might need or pick prefabs and build quest around what the map has.

anyndel,

@grumpygamer As a matter of preference, I like the idea of prefabs "generating" the quests, but that's just conceptual.

@0x00string well, it also was not worth $44 billion to begin with, so let's just say it "lost 55% value"? :v

On Return to Monkey Island we had a lot of Zoom and Slack calls. Other than one team meeting none of them were video calls. Video calls are deceptively exhausting. Try eliminating them and you might be surprised how much better people feel.

    anyndel,

@grumpygamer There's a growing volume of research about how tiresome video-calls are and how can they be asymmetrically disruptive for people of certain natures and dispositions. This is just the first that I Googled (also one of the first I personally came across when this was mentioned in passing by generalist press): https://psycnet.apa.org/record/2021-37196-002

Scooters aren't a new invention, they had them in 1915, called Autoped. They had an engine and could go to ~32kmh (20 mph). A lot of times things fall out of fashion and return later, more modernized and just seems new. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autoped

Do you know people who are suffering significantly as follows? (This is a multiple-choice poll.)

(pls boost if the subject interests you)

    anyndel,

@timbray Probably going to be a very unpopular take but the fact that "Don't know anyone" is winning might be indicative of the overall societal/political inclinations and literacy of this instance.
Can't not think it. I apologize again.

ok sorry but last Unity post.

Remember when Unity said "you should stick to the TOS of the version you installed"? https://blog.unity.com/community/updated-terms-of-service-and-commitment-to-being-an-open-platform

They deleted the transparency repo with the TOS changes: https://github.com/Unity-Technologies/TermsOfService

    anyndel,

@djlink Unity really decided to join the X way of doing things, from what I gather -_-

Anyhow the Google quasi-monopoly on web browser technology is bad.

Firefox is in low single digits.

Only competitor is Apple, but Safari isn't available on all platforms.

Google needs to be force-split up in multiple companies like 10 years ago.

    anyndel,

@thomasfuchs I would say a good first step would be to push Firefox further up, but honestly I have little idea how - I don't use Firefox for my daily browsing because, honestly, it's relatively clunky compared to what I got used to (Opera 12)

It’s weird, until Space Karen took over, Twitter used to be the go-to place during any sort of major world event—it’s now impossible to tell real accounts from bullshit so it’s completely useless for this purpose.

The one big thing and outstanding feature they had going for them, utterly destroyed.

    anyndel,

@thomasfuchs To everyone that keeps chatting about how 8000 people were "too many" for Twitter... after a number of years of fail whales, it became more or less the one "social" place that withstood spike after spike after spike. Legendary reliability.
I think this was part of its appeal when any kind of globally relevant stuff went down.
