Big news: Kitsune Tail's Steam Next Fest demo is live now! Go get it at https://store.steampowered.com/app/1325260 and experience the first part of this queer furry love triangle wrapped in an SMB3 jacket
You should definitely check the options. There's a CRT shader in Kitsune Tails made by @JoshJers which isn't on by default (because people get upset by that kinda thing) but playing with it on is totally the recommended experience
And for those of you who have Steam Decks, we've verified it works on that, too! And there's a new reveal trailer, showing off some of the bosses: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRBcm5fagUU
you ever think about how the standard cartoon bomb (a large blue or black sphere with a big fuse coming out the top) is essentially the "save icon" of destruction, because 1) it's symbolic meaning is widely understood, and 2) it's an anachronism that is widely recognized only for its symbolic meaning as its real life counterpart is long obsolete?
The earliest models of explosive shells are what cartoon bombs come from. They're hollow iron balls meant to explode roughly when they land on/penetrate a target.
A post about C++ got me thinking about how I've not really seen anything quite as clean (in theory at least) as RAII.
In short:
create an object to get a resource (e.g. open a file)
delete it to release (e.g. close the file)
Multiple languages have a "using" or "with" block that works similarly but they usually require some extra work to use and can be skipped. If you design your class right RAII requires no special code in the client.
Resources automatically release as they fall out of scope
Saw an article about some dude claiming to be the inventor of Bitcoin and being found to be a fraud. Got me thinking.
Given when it was invented I'm thinking the original writer of the Bitcoin paper was probably a channer that hung around /prog/
A relatively obscure 4chan meme was the idea of "Satoshi" as some kind of programming enlightenment thing. That plus the general financial/political ideals behind crypto (inflation bad, regulation bad etc) also points to older chan culture.
Last boost:
I'm amazed at the level of near religious reverence some people put into The Process in software dev. As if simply doing The Rituals of The Process will magically make good software spring out of teams on time and under budget.
IME the biggest determining factors in success are:
Do project leaders have a clear vision of what is to be created?
Shine was sitting on my chest in bed and parker was staring absolute death at him. After shine moved Parker demanded pets then sat on my chest for like 3 minutes. He NEVER sits on you, only by you
