What gets me is how many people fall for this wording and replicate it. Media illiteracy is a thing.

Hamas refusing the proposal on the table and making a counteroffer is in itself quite normal for negotiations. Though quite infuriating with regards to the suffering of the Gazans and how many sound ceasefire proposals they refused by now.

I keep on looking at this map. The Gaza strip itself is already so small , one of the most densely populated parts of the world. And now everyone is supposed to cram into a minute part of this? And we are all supposed to appreciate this“humanitarian zone” - which has itself been repeatedly bombed already, too.

    Da will ich dann doch mal widersprechen.

    Schnell aus dem Kopf: Pflicht der Länder 2% für Windkraft auszuweisen. Gesetzlicher Vorrang für EE Projekte (etwa ggü Denkmalschutz). Ermöglichen von Balkonkraftwerken und Agri-PV. PV-Pflicht auf neuen Dächern. PV-Ausschreibungspflicht gelockert. Eigenstromversorgungsverbot gekippt.

    EE so ein bisschen meine Nische, und da gibt's noch einiges mehr.

    Ich glaub, wenn es um die Energieversorgung geht ist es auch schwer den grossen Wurf zu landen. Dazu gibt es viele technische Gesetze, und die Hürden anzupassen ist viel Kleinklein.

    Da wurde imho halt viel richtig gemacht. Auch dank Graichen als Staatssekretär, der vorher bei Agora Energiewende war und das nötige Fachwissen mitbrachte.

    In der Diskussion fällt sowas dem Bikeshedding zum Opfer.

    Eine Metapher dafür, dass Menschen viel Zeit zum Besprechen trivialer Dinge aufwenden zu denen es leicht ist eine Meinung zu haben, aber wenig für komplizierte aber wichtige Dinge.

    Der Name kommt von einem fiktiven Kraftwerksprojekt, bei dem die Manager mehr über den Fahrradunterstand diskutierten als den Reaktor.

    Find die Metapher in meinem Alltag leider immer wieder sehr zutreffend. 🫤

    A colleague is currently in , visiting family and taking care of the cancer treatment for a parent.

    And despite 300+ drones and rockets being fired, what you don't see on Mastodon are: No discussion of the social cost of Iran's weapon programs. No concern how the military escalation by the Iranian government might endanger Iranians. Hardly any concern for the Israelis being targeted.

    Only a lot of shitty "But the west" takes, most devoid of empathy.

    It actually tries to set rules that protect gamblers (no loans, no advertising, no parallel games, regulated user accounts) and limits the kinds of games available.

    Die Cance einer sorgfältigen Evaluierung der liegt nicht nur im Lernen für die Zukunft, sondern auch in einer Befriedung der Gesellschaft. International anerkannte Wissenschaftlerinnen sollten damit beauftragt werden. Auch eine Enquete-Kommission des BT wäre gut.

    @42GB @alxd I'm not an expert on Fast Breeders, but the basic idea seems to be to use "large" amounts of Plutonium to be able to fission the "inert" U258, thus using Uran more efficiently than only relying on the rarer but more active U235.

    There are many downsides to this. You need a plutonium industry, which requires know-how and cames with its own risks. Re-enrichment like Purex is damn expensive, produces quite a bit of toxic and nuclear waste in itself.

    @alxd @42GB Plus the risk of proliferation of Plutonium in weapons. The reactors themselves run with hot liquid natrium as coolant. Not very solarpunk, imho.

    Realistically, nuclear energy companies seem to "recycle" their nuclear fuel once. 8 used Uran fuel rods create 1 new Uran fuel rod and 1 MOX rod (Uran Plutonium mix). The spent MOX normally isn't re-enriched as the Plutonium is no longer vers pure.

    I don't think the processes fit a waste-concious society.

    @alxd @42GB I see what you are going for. It might depend on how much handwaving you are willing to accept.

    The two current fast reactors don't burn that clean, so you would still end up with plutonium in the used fuel. Which would then have to be seperated. (Which is ecologically messy, see Sellafield and La Hague. And results in acid with plutonium in it as waste.) They could also breed more Pu.

    There are theoretical concepts like molten sodium fast reactors. Which imho are a lot more risky.

    @alxd @42GB There's also the question of Know-How and engineering and industry capabilities. The nuclear industry is already in decline. EDF failed to design a next-gen pressurized water reactor without flaws. The type of reactor that's been around for decades.

    The US failed to copy the existing French MOX process.

    So I'm not sure that a shrinking and almost extinct industry can (and should) pull of something highly experimental and risky.

    Personally, I feel like the changes are already underway. Superblocks, car free city centers, switch from fossils to renewables, right to repair and so on.

    But a lot of this pressure is piecemeal. Many folks seem to have a hard time imagining anything other than capitalism or autocracy.

    And i feel like might fill this gap. A vision of a future that's positively worth living in. A narrative to challenge consumerism and nihilism.
