Being a Sunday sports spud, watching the relentless flood of pro-gambling ads, wondering if we’re heading for an echo of the Oxycontin disaster; a tsunami of lives wrecked by addiction.

A different flavor of catastrophe; what’s the same is that the perpetrators get to walk away with billions.

Destroying whole generations is good business.

@timbray The evasiveness of the ads as well as the push from the apps themselves to gamble during games is crazy. There has to be a fair number of people in a lot of trouble because of these apps.

@marcoarment Me either. I went blue with a new Peak Designs blue case. Kinda boring, but fine. It would be so great to see some colours, even if they were a bit muted compared to the regular models.

    Reading about The Eras Tour movie being shown in movie cinemas this fall (https://variety.com/2023/music/news/taylor-swift-concert-film-amc-theaters-eras-tour-october-1235709150/) confirms even more a thought I had a while back. I gotta believe/hope that Apple is working really hard to secure immersive recordings from this summer's concert series. That would be an amazing catalog to have ready for launch.

    The first episode of was good but plodded along. The whole thing could have been tightened up considerably. Feloni likes to linger on his shots just a little too much.

    @gedeonm I didn’t watch much Rebels. I was all in after the red crawl and the appearance of the ship. I don’t find it slow at all, I’m really liking it so far.

    Oh boy. is really good. Admittedly I don’t know the hole back story there, but so far it’s great. Spoiler, but not really, the red straight vertical intro crawl followed by the ship was 🔥🔥🔥🔥.

    How many images do you have in your photo library?

    @gedeonm Nearly 12K in my iCloud Photo Library. These are mostly edited and sorted that I want saved. Some groups of mess too though :) My Lightroom Catalogues are over 40K by now. I typically delete the worse/unusable there, but save way more, just in case. Those live on multiple external SSDs.

    When looking at photos of bugs that aren't ants it's always funny to spot the ants in the background. Even more funny when the person who took the photo, very proud of the rare bug they found refuses to acknowledge that there is clearly an ant photobombing the special moment. This one is called:

    "Tiny Purple Beetle, Chlamisus sp."

    ... aaaand Crematogaster! They look like friends!
