I saw a truck parked outside SF Pride: Gays Against Groomers. It sounded suspicious so I looked it up and of course it’s an anti trans org. They should be ashamed. This stuff makes us all feel unsafe.

@skinnylatte This is super shameful, considering that not too long ago, gay people were accused of pedophilia and grooming children. If it’s truly gay people behind this—I have my doubts—it demonstrates a shocking lack of cultural and historical awareness.

Not that any of this surprises me. Willful ignorance is America’s default operating mode.

Now this is just sad. Paramount+ is cancelling —and worse, they’re removing it from the streaming service altogether. A classic case of insult on top of injury. Also a classic case of corporate cruelty.

So yeah—streaming is ephemeral and subject to the whims of profit-chasing executives. If you truly love a movie or a show, get it on physical media.

Confession time: I hadn’t seen any of until today. I watched the first episode (the first two episodes, technically?), and wow. Long story short, I was blown away, and I’m kinda mad at myself for sleeping on this for so long.

I really hope this show survives. At the very least, I hope season two sees the light of day, and we get physical media of it all.

Failing that—y’all know what to do.

@gedeonm I don’t envy them. They set the bar so high for themselves, and somehow, they have to keep hitting or exceeding that mark. Perhaps that’s a good problem to have, but it’s still a problem!

Anyway, I can’t wait to see what else this season brings. It’ll be quite the ride, if nothing else.

@skinnylatte You join Christine Chapel, Jadzia Dax, and many other Star Trek fans in having impeccable taste. Yes, I too adore Spock, though sometimes I wonder if I want to be him more than I want to be with him.

However, as a queer woman into more than just women, I feel compelled to point out the silver fox hotness of Anson Mount’s Captain Pike. Move over, Jim Kirk. He’s the man I want in my center chair.

The production design of is on point. There are so many delightful details, like this little homage in the latest episode. It’s consistent with their design ethos: TOS, but with a much bigger budget. On that front, they’re absolutely nailing it.

A patient monitor from the Star Trek SNW episode “Broken Circle”. It’s clearly an homage to TOS. There are “Respiration” and “Pulse” dots in the center, flanked by vertical meters. The meter immediately to the right of the dots indicates an elevated heart rate, no doubt the result of Spock seeing Chapel upon her entrance to sickbay. Wait, you watched the episode already, right?

    Turns out @MonaApp for Mac is legit. Don’t know why it took so long for me to try it, considering I bought it sight unseen. Looks great, works great, no notes.

    The iOS version is pretty damn good too. It’s now my go-to Mastodon app when I’m out and about.

    5.1 for in an VM? Yes, and it even prints! I could’ve gone one step further and printed the document to an actual printer, but I already have a printed copy, and I didn’t want to waste paper.

    I already got this working with a host. Next stop: the , because why not?

    A video of an Arch Linux VM running DOSBox. It starts with three terminal windows open on desktop 1, switches to desktop 2 with DOSBox-X, shows WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS printing a document, and switches to desktop 3 with the PDF output.

    @ChronRevisited I’ve heard of lawyers sticking to WordPerfect, but do some actually go as far as sticking to the DOS version? That’s incredible to me, and I’d love to know why.

    What have I been up to lately? Just getting for to run in DOSBox. It even prints, sort of, by way of PostScript files.

    I can’t wait to play around with this even more. I actually used WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS as a kid, and I have fond memories of it.
