I love the bing daily wallpapers, I especially love that they seem to always have a related wallpaper if it's a UN recognised 'day'. For example, today is Bee Day!
I want to get back into daily #i3 usage, but after such a long gap I forgot the key combinations and also I don't want to spend so much time in setting it up properly.
so I've been using vanilla #ubuntu on my #rpi5 for the last couple of days, I gotta say, that desktop environment is really nice. Still prefer something light like #lxqt plus #i3, but I could start recommending vanilla ubuntu to normies again
Trying to set up a #Debian workstation again (I really want to get back to #Linux), and loving it already.
• #GDM doesn’t run in Wayland mode. Logs say something about a segfault in #gnome-shell.
• Using #Xorg instead works, but if I position my left monitor to (0, 420) (because the right one is taller), the output on screen moves down (with the menu bar now in the middle of the screen), the mouse cursor is offset.
@veronica Apparently everything gets confused if there’s no 0,0. I’m currently trying #i3 (under Xorg) and it too produces an empty area at the top of my left monitor instead of simply moving the monitor to different coordinates on the virtual screen. This is infuriating!
#Linux
What is your favorite desktop environment and why? :linux:
I'm currently considering to switch away from GNOME the main reason i use it is because of the dash to dock feature (until recent events good stability ) . But i don't know much about any other environment than KDE and GNOME and i dislike KDE's task bar
I've settled down a bit after an initial #distrohopping adventure ever since #ubuntu starting worrying me. Here's what I've settled down on now, after experimenting with different setups:
however, #i3 is nowhere as feature rich without lots of customization (maybe not even then) compared to #kde or #gnome . One killer feature in i3 is the tree based tiling layouts - I can have two vertically split containers, and tabbed windows in each (or just one).
I'd love to have that functionality in my kde setup, but reading up - even running #3 within #plasma doesn't seem smooth/vanilla enough. I'll still keep playing around with it on my #nixos laptop, but boy does it need extra setup!
After years of sniffing at it curiously, I started poking around with the #i3 DE on #Fedora. It feels like there's a lot to learn and that it can be a bit of a time sink, and honestly, I'm all in.
Been using the Nord GTK theme a while and riced my i3 and rofi to match it. However, thinking of a new GTK theme to switch to. Any suggestions? #ricing#i3#theme
@thelinuxcast on most of my recent #Linux installs I just have #XFCE. My wife has a few on her laptop as thay was the first computer we switches to Linux, this it has been our testing unit. I knownit has #KDE, XFCE, #AwesomeWM, #Openbox , #I3, #Gnome, and I think #Budgie
Edit: oh my little mango pi is rocking XFCE, #LXDE, and Openbox
