I'm wondering if you are also a game developer and you have a Steam Deck how often do you play with it?

A year ago I really wanted a Steam Deck, firstly to make the Erra: Exordium game compatible, before the release I got a Deck and I used it as a developer. 4 months have passed since the release and I haven't used it all this time

Pretty dang happy with my new desk setup. Might someday replace the central monitor with an ultrawide cus Unreal Blueprint, but shy of that, this is super functional.

i tried using one for coding but couldn't get it right
the one thing i recommend is using a mount, it frees up so much space on the desk

The other day I got home to my smoke alarms occasionally going off. I eventually discovered two things:

  1. Some newer interconnected alarms flash their power-on indicators after they've been triggered (and continue until you press the test button) so you can determine which one's the problem and

  2. A small spider next to the offending alarm

After... dealing with the spider, the nuisance alarms stopped. I can only assume it kept crawling into the sensor, setting it off, and crawling back out!

There's some jerk with a bot reposting my Mastodon posts to Twitter.

If I wanted my content on there, I would post it myself. I don't. Take the hint.

Not to mention all the people tagging that account thinking it's me.

Of course, Xitter is so useless now that they won't get rid of unauthorized accounts.

If you're reading this on Xitter, tell the person who posted it to stop.

@notjustbikes maybe you can start every post with 280 empty characters and put the content next, there might be a way to make it invisible here but with the character limit on twitter it will end up with empty posts

Finally testing the new ground, workflow is definetly new but not imposible.

Also this getNode stuff by just the name of the object feel so wrong lol!

PAX turning into a full-on fan convention minus the indie press/business layer makes that less useful for promo/pitching, and E3 is dead of course, which means

... god do we really have to do GDC now? Is it really the last one standing, other than Gamescom? That's miserable! AGH!

GDC had even already (quietly) been becoming a press hotspot, so that's only likely to accelerate after this year.

Anyone who believes the retraction and stays on their tech is, well, a fool.

Capping at 4% of your rev is an arbitrary number based on appearing lower than Unreal because optics. They can change it. They will.

They don't know your revenue either, unless you tell them (don't tell them), meaning this is more navel gazing into a proprietary AI model then they try to shake you down.

I tried to upgrade my SteamOS console (HoloISO console to be exact) to the preview of SteamOS 3.5, and I botched my installation.

Iโ€™m happy to report that the latest HoloISO image installs perfectly and makes all the steps I had to do previously unnecessary (changing boot to a specific kernel, changing AMD GPU mode to 3D Fullscreen): everything runs perfectly out of the box, nothing to tweak on my end!

@thelinuxEXP I just tried to install bazzite but couldn't figure out how to set it up to dual boot with my current system, now that you said HoloISO is much easier to install I think I'm gonna try it

    @gamingonlinux some email providers are capable of removing tracking to avoid that kind of thing, i would check if that's an option
