@Techaltar there is a Linux VR headset called Simula VR which is basically a head mounted computer which runs normal desktop applications. It may look rough around the edges, but I think it's the closest thing to a HMD that's more like a real PC and not like a phone/tablet.

Red Dead Redemption 2 sucks. Every time I play 5 minutes something dumb happens, e.g. someone's threatening me and I shoot them, suddenly becoming the baddie. compared to Witcher 3 everything is so unnatural and non sequitur.

Here Louis does an in depth and very good explanation of what means for you after getting screwed over by these companies that have the ability to steal what you pay for, even though they're the ones who say that piracy is stealing.

@r000t youtube-dl has been broken (and probably abandoned) for a while now, yt-dlp is its best replacement and it works great, however I'm scared that it might still be subject to rate limiting, especially since I want to mass download a bunch of dead YouTube channels before Google does the inactive accounts purge next month.

Guess what? A new possibly very long thread, this time about Athena, my next main #workstation as a successor to Sargo (the current Mac Pro 5,1 setup) based around the #Lenovo #ThinkStation P500. I already bought a low spec P500 and an 18-core #Xeon E5-2699 v3 CPU upgrade; later on I'll get 64 GB of DDR4 ECC memory, a so called "Flex M.2 Adapter" for the special Flex slot on the motherboard and maybe an additional GPU alongside my new Radeon Pro W5700 for KVM's and PCI passthrough.

An early Christmas miracle happened. @ITzTravelInTime and a friend of ours gifted me a new motherboard for the ThinkStation! They wanted to make it up to that time I went real angry for the death of the first motherboard (I wasn't angry at them, I was angry at Lenovo) and helped me getting it installed and working with 32 GB of RAM and my RX 580. I'm working on getting a new OS installed for now.
