You mentioned you were cutting these out. Did you cut these out of a solid piece of foam? Or do these come in some kinda, big chunks, that you then cut apart into the terrain bits you want?

Any / folks have a clear understanding of why Stellar Jay seem to pick up and mimic predator calls?

I think our Stellar Jay is making Osprey noises now? She was doing Red Tailed Hawk noises last year.

Today I tried what Geometry Script is in Unreal Engine 5. Cool features, but I won't use it for the game. Maybe only as tools for level design

Been trying to figure out how to phrase the next era of my / studio

If it's my partner and I making games, but she's a very silent artist partner and wants zero exposure, do I just roll the "single creator" angle?

It feels weird, but also a lot of single creator games sure have lots of contractors so shrug?

Like if I say "couple", EVERYONE gonna zero in on that. The angle they'll want is couple interviews. And, well. No.

I've avoided it in the past because I also don't like minimizing the input of my musician. But a whole lot of solo devs shrug that off too and treat music like a pay-for commodity?

Feels a bit like how "Souls" means something very different from what the words say at this point, or how "indie" has been distended, heh.

@tacitus I suppose having anchored myself as "Glass Bottom Games" sort of shoots me in the foot in this regard, since otherwise, yeah, that'd be an obvious dodge. Hrm.

Though that's how it goes I guess. Either you die as a young studio, or survive long enough to have the concept of a "studio" become antiquated, lol.

@radiofreelunch it's been my policy to say "we" for the last decade even though I'm the only full timer, yep! My thing has always been, folks don't gotta be full time to be afforded the identity of "team".

Just seemed worth checking if norms had changed heh.

I am so deeply tired of every games job interview trying to find out how much I'm going to love their project or how much it aligns with my tastes.

Look, I am a professional. I have been doing this 25 years. I want to do my job at 100%, make whatever I am building better than it otherwise would be, get paid, and then go home.

I'm not in it for the passion. The passion died a long time ago. Now I just want to pay my mortgage.

Anyway, here's a bunch of stuff I can't say in interviews.

I think Jon Blow complaining about not being able to find Braid on PSN without scrolling to the bottom of the list of new releases and having to be told to stop sorting by best selling and it goes to the top will give me strength for years to come.

Hats are rad, and it's a bummer that culture in the US is stubbornly looping the last 50 years only. We should bring back HATS.

@llamasoft_ox Ah, yeah, I too have a "going outside when it's pissing rain" hat. Wandering around the property in the winter months is otherwise just a fantastic way of getting soaked, heh.

Well, that and hooded jackets, but meh, most times jacket is overkill.

I’d heard a couple of people say that Xbox was basically not worth aiming for anymore as an indie, unless they offer you a chunky Game Pass deal - which they probably won’t, unless you’re a known quantity by reputation or sales on other platform. @sinbad Also applies to PlayStation, with the same "unless you get PS+ or diversity fund money" caveat

It isn't that PlayStation can't make money, it's just that what sells there isn't remotely what most indies are making. They've more or less captured the AAA Gamer audience.

yuzu kitsune tails, a purple haired fox girl, picks up samurai armor in a tower that's rapidly filling with lava. she jumps away from the rising lava and sticks her spear in the wall, doing a dashing twirl to get on top of it. she walks off the spear and into a new scene, fighting a ghost fox with armor and spear. it stabs and she jumps over, but is caught by a follow up stab. the ghost fox over extends and its ghostly powers wane, giving yuzu a chance to bop on its head
