Yes, you can host Git bombs on Codeberg.

No, we are not fond of this idea.

We are currently looking into countermeasures to get Codeberg back on track.

If you make tools for Mastodon, consider increasing compatibility with the rest of the fediverse.

This guide might help.

@stefan Small nitpick: blob.cat is actually powered by Akkoma, not Pleroma.

Aside from that though, this article is pretty good. I'll definitely bookmark it for later.

I want to build / get a travel router / hardware VPN which connects to a network wirelessly or via RJ-45 and creates a new Wi-Fi (& maybe a wired connection to the new network) to which I can connect my devices and everything gets tunneled either through Mullvad or through my home network. Maybe it can even throw the traffic into Pi-hole before tunneling.
What hardware would I need? (As compact, as cheap-ish and as efficient as possible)

:boost_requested:

@askfedi

#networking #VPN #router

hexaheximal,
@hexaheximal@mastodon.social avatar

@MagicLike @askfedi openwrt would be a pretty good choice but the wifi stuff doesn't work on raspberry pis. I've tried to build an openwrt wifi router on a raspberry pi before, didn't go well. but if you can find the right router hardware for it...

hexaheximal,
@hexaheximal@mastodon.social avatar

@MagicLike @askfedi I'd also be more than happy to help with the software side, because that is actually a thing I've wanted to build for years now ;)

@anubiarts The duck walked up to the lemonade stand. Menacingly. The man running the stand could not handle the power of the duck. He tried to run away as fast as he possibly could, but it was already too late; the duck caught up to him. He didn't get the grapes, and he knew it would come to this. But was it worth it? Was it worth telling the duck he didn't have grapes? No, it wasn't. And the natural consequences of that decision eventually came to him.

What if instead of just dynamic or strict typing, we also had a concept called preferred typing? Basically, you define a variable with a type, but flag it so it can still accept other types, but if given a value that can be converted to the preferred type, it will automatically convert it.

hexaheximal,
@hexaheximal@mastodon.social avatar

@KelvinShadewing Go can kind of already do this to some extent, although it doesn't explicitly have it as a built-in language feature.

Quick FOSS legal literacy quiz

Imagine the following situation: your project is MIT licensed. Someone takes the whole project and white-labels it (changes the name), then sells it commercially without providing the source code or sharing any of the sales revenue with you. They include "Copyright <your name>" and a copy of the MIT license in the "about" page of the software.

Is this allowed?

hexaheximal,
@hexaheximal@mastodon.social avatar

@drewdevault Yeah, that happens all the time.

For example, the Squirrel programming language (which uses the MIT license) is used in VScript, a proprietary Source engine scripting system by Valve.

Why is it that in Santa Claus movies, non-believing parents never ask where the presents come from? In fact, why not go bigger? Why aren't toy/game companies off the walls about someone giving away millions in gifts each year that they never see a penny of?

hexaheximal,
@hexaheximal@mastodon.social avatar

@KelvinShadewing yeah, santa claus, if real, would single-handedly destroy capitalism in only a few days... but then do it every year just to make sure.
