Looking at my cart at The Woolery, and there is basically endless squeeing.

(The cart is full of Kromski 32" loom and loom accessories. SQUEEEEEEEEEE MOAR here I come.)

My server is currently voting on whether we want to extend the character limit to be 1000 or not. I can't emphasize how much I love being on social.coop. Especially since we have such amazing volunteers! The proposal started with a report out by the technical team for whether it would cause issues with storage or similar.

I alternate between berating past-Casey and thanking him. Sometimes he's a right asshole and sometimes he does something that makes my life so much better now.

I like @hughlh 's recent comment about intentionally doing things for your future self when you have the spoons in the present:

"It’s that when I was not feeling stressed, I planted something that would nourish me later. In other words, the Hugh of 2019 took care of the Hugh of 2024. And the Hugh of 2024 is grateful."

@gairdeachas @hughlh It’s funny, I often use the trick of telling myself it’s good to be nice to future-Jonobie, to do things I don’t really want to do but should.

Do I do those same things for present-Jonobie? Not usually.

Why the difference, I have no idea. But it does help me feel kindly towards my past self.

The original plan for this week was for me to be in Phoenix helping rack gear in a data center today through Friday. So I structured my week to get other things done on Monday and Tuesday.

The trip got cancelled and now my brain has decided that it doesn't want to sit at a desk because it was promised Non Desk Things for the rest of the week. <sigh>

Come. On. Brain.

@gairdeachas I mean, that seems legit to me.

So glad I happened to read about interactions for my antibiotic this morning while trying to figure out if it should be taken with food. It apparently should not be taken with antacids, because they have a lot of magnesium in them.

…I take a twice daily magnesium supplement for migraine.

So I’m glad I caught that after one day in.

Amid a severe shortage of care providers, a survey finds most Americans give the US mental healthcare system poor or failing grades. Cost is a factor, but the biggest problem: Not enough therapists to go around to deal with rising cases of , and other conditions. https://medium.com/wise-well/us-mental-healthcare-gets-mostly-ds-and-fs-0d70189c8770

jonobie,
@jonobie@social.coop avatar

@robertroybritt There’s definitely a larger wave of newly trained therapists coming out now.

But insurance is also to blame; ghost networks exist partially because their pay and conditions aren’t great. Just heard of someone yesterday who had Blue Cross Blue Shield claw back money they’d supposedly paid the therapist in 2022. 🙄

If Kendrick weren't rapping about insulting Drake, would you still be this interested?

Kendrick always raps like this. So why the sudden attention? Are you celebrating the lyrical skill? Or the fact that he's threatening another Black man's life?

What specifically are we celebrating?🤔

Everyone's celebrating "bars." I've been watching all day, haven't seen anyone talk about the bars where K Dot said he'd take the Draco to Drake. Or where he said he'd extort Drake next time he checks-in in LA.

jonobie,
@jonobie@social.coop avatar

@sgf @mekkaokereke I’m a non-rap person in the US and assumed most of it was machismo and marketing too. That sucks that it’s not that.

The respect thing has always been confusing to me too. I feel completely lost about why it’s so important. (I believe it is, it just feels so foreign to me.)

jonobie,

so, some douche bought a bunch of Teslas and seems to be running a 3rd party car service using Lyft/Uber.

WTF IS WRONG WITH THEIR DOORS?!?! i have never in my life have had a problem opening a car door until i tried to open the door of a Tesla.

that fascist apartheid fuckwad is a real ableist PoS, isn't he?

jonobie,
@jonobie@social.coop avatar

@blogdiva I fucking hate Tesla doors - I had that exact same reaction the first time I was reduced to poking at one and looking confusedly at the driver.

And that’s not even counting that those same doors may lock up and trap people in a crash. 🙄

People who think those who are cold can always “put on another layer” have clearly never worn upwards of 5 layers at once and then tried to add yet another on top of that. 🥶🥶🥶

Brought to you by a frozen human who is currently wearing all of her layers plus a borrowed layer and feels like a sausage.

Biggest positive takeaways from the line 2 opening:

  • The Master planned development near stations (Overlake and Spring District) is genuinely good.
  • The Spring District shallow station is awesome

Biggest negative takeaways:

  • the at grade stuff -- intersections and pedestrian access -- is extremely bad
  • Blows my mind how much parking is surrounding the stations.
  • Using highway adjacent right-of-ways is a disaster for the lines usefulness

@owen @fbaum I heard basically during the pandemic inspectors stopped inspecting things, the contractor cut corners, and all the concrete had to be redone.

Our electric tea kettle has died after just a few weeks - sprung a leak. This is our third kettle THIS YEAR. Manufacturing is basically crap now, I know, but I really, really need my tea. I gotta solve this. I'm thinking a stovetop kettle? But we have an induction stove.

Any lovers have a favorite teapot/kettle that works on an induction stove?

(feel free to boost)

jonobie,
@jonobie@social.coop avatar

@hollie I got a SUSTEA kettle for my induction stove. I quite like it:

@hollie My one complaint is the whistle is a little weak. But it works and is quick on the induction power boil.
