Good afternoon everyone. Do you know of some interesting fediverse projects specifically aimed at this 2024 election. It’s shaping up to be a referendum about choosing democracy over fascism, if we can figure out how to get the public’s attention and concern. A pretty heavy lift.

@shoq I wish I were bright enough to create a comic strip about what’s going on. Like XKCD is to tech, but about the absurdity of politics & power in the US. If the content was good it could be shared in lots of formats. Or for that matter, talented enough to express my anguish in any damn format…
The world is in decline & it’s avoidable if only enough people would engage. I don’t understand why, in this moment of crisis, we don’t have a fricking deluge of subversive artists.

    @Terra My son once told the entire trilogy as a story. It took awhile. He was really into the Clone Wars at the time so a good portion of the telling was how Anakin wasn’t always a bad guy but he made some bad choices and turned into Vader so the Ewoks cooked him and ate him. The end. 0.o

    Please do vote if you're in the US. Literally every school board/director up for us had a book burning type running, some more subtle than others.

    I know it's boring off year stuff but holy shit those types can do damage en masse.

    @glassbottommeg I think more people would vote if it were easier to do. I don’t understand why more people aren’t pushing for vote by mail. No more standing in line, I love it. It’s so much easier, and I would argue more secure than machines.

    When the evangelical right talks about “neighbours,” they are not referring to society at large. No, they mean only their fellow evangelical Christians.

    And therein lies the explanation for conservative policies around healthcare, human rights, immigration and the LGBT+ community that seem incongruous with any message of compassion and universal love.

    Has anyone watched 'One Piece' on Netflix?

    Never heard of it before, never seen the anime/manga (no idea which) it's based on.

    Is it worth it... what's it comparable too? Limited time available and far too many shows to catch up on, so starting a new show has to be pretty epic to get on the list.

    @endareth @anomnomnomaly We weekend binged it, it’s only 8 eps. I haven’t seen the anime but intended to after watching this.

    It was over the top, outlandish characters that anime excels at that are usually cringe live, but IMO it totally worked. One of the most enjoyable shows Ive seen this year. The casting was fabulous.
