Went for a bike ride today. It's -40C outside... It wasn't comfortable, but I survived. I was bundled up very well. My cell phone crashed due to the freezing cold and refused to power on. Since bringing it inside, it's alive now. I'm gunna name my old cell phone Trooper, just because.

While I may be able to survive out there, electronics struggle very hard. I'm gunna stop bringing my phone out in the -40 and below mark from now on. My odometer on the other hand, must suffer.

@StampedingLonghorn You've gotta wear something that covers your mouth and nose. This helps prevent skiers cough and helps you breathe a bit easier. This is because cold conditions are dry conditions. You exhale all that moisture and you're breathing in cold, dry air.

With a mask that covers your mouth and nose, the moisture gets trapped in the fabric., which allows you to breathe some of that moisture back in.

@Alonely0 I could write such a solution, but I'd argue that such a thing must already exist, or is at least implementable, no? I understand that it's a temporary solution, but how long will it be there for? It's not likely to change anytime soon.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Rust when playing with it, but if we want to win out in the end, we've gotta be free from the ground-up.

This means that I can both upload and download in freedom. I'd use a different repo if I knew of one.

@Mrfunkedude Great question. I went out for a test ride. The good news is the ride was very smooth, no road shakes. The bad news is that I keep steering the handlebars back and forth to compensate for the snow. It gets better once I get going, but it's distracting and isn't smooth at all.

We'll have to see how it pans out in spring/summer.

I've deleted all of my accounts. I've looked hard for a general purpose instance that doesn't federate with either LemmyGrad, or an instance which doesn't federate with any server with loli or shota in their name.

Turns out, there aren't any. Freaking gross guys. Get it together over there...

I'm back on again and I must say that so far, I prefer it. I do prefer the size and scope of but there's so much more to look at on Mastodon to keep you engaged. I'm also going to miss macroblogging, but I guess that's what services like are for.

I'd like to have only one presence on the fedi, but different features will ultimately keep me on different platforms at the end of the day.
