From the Washington Post:

What state best represents America?

What are the most representative — dare we say, most American — states in the nation? And what does that even mean?

This week, we take a stab at identifying the most normal state in the nation and discover that, by at least one measure, it’s the state you’d least expect.

Yesterday Sen. Tom Cotton suggested that people inconvenienced by protests should "take matters into your own hands to get them out of the way".

Today candidate for Senate, Kari Lake, openly advised citizens to "strap on a Glock" to prepare for this year's election. I've provided a screenshot and a link, in case you think I've overblown their comments.

They should have no place in our government.

Since government has the power to harm journalism, the purpose of protecting it is to allow journalists to bring to light that which unscrupulous people in power wish to hide from the people.

Thus: Don't allow people who try to undermine into journalistic institutions. Seems logical.
And yet NBC hired the RNC's former head.

Remember that Trump tried:
-Banning Muslims from entering the US?
-Separating kids from parents at the border?
-Coercing Ukraine into investigating Biden?
He also:
-Abandoned the nuclear deal w/Iran
-Left the Paris climate accords
-Left an $8T debt
...plus much more.

Posobiec admits that the goal on Jan. 6 was to end democracy.

Every citizen needs to hear that Republicans intend to end democracy should Republicans come to power again. They've become bold enough to tell us directly, in no uncertain terms.

People believe inflation and crime are much greater than they actually are. In fact, both have fallen dramatically.

Crime is far lower than it's been in decades. Inflation is close to the target the Fed has set (nearing 2%).

Every time when I read ab. the ridiculous claims of Trump's "presidential immunity", I recall the day when Pres. Ford pardoned Pres. Nixon for his crimes. Ford believed that the nation had to put Nixon's criminal acts behind us.

But Nixon's authorization of a burglary of the Democratic National Committee was an attempt to interfere with the 1972 election and should have been prosecuted.

Ford's error of judgment resounds today.

Nixon, like Trump, believed that the President was above the law. He even stated in his interview with David Frost, "When the President does it, it's not illegal."

The US is a nation that aspires to equality before the law for all, even those with wealth and power.

The idea that some people are above the rule of law must always be challenged.

It is crucial for Trump to be held to account to prove that we still hold to the principle:
No man is above the law.

‘The Opposite of Politics’: A Conservative Legal Scholar Says Kicking Trump Off the Ballot Is ‘Unassailable’

J. Michael Luttig explains why he thinks the 14th Amendment should prevent Trump from running for president again.

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2023/12/21/luttig-14th-amendment-trump-00132792

Fair enough. I’'m just trying to grasp what you mean when you say “unassailable.” I mean, the Supreme Court could assail it. I understand your question, and I appreciate it. All we can do is assess ourselves the objective law — in this instance, the meaning and application of Section 3 of the 14th amendment. Now, I was a judge for many, many years, and I did exactly that on constitutional questions for 15 years — and as we discussed earlier, I've been studying this specific question in great detail for the past three years. So, you know, I consider myself — personally — an expert on the question. The Colorado Supreme Court decision was over 120 pages, and I read every word of every page, and I understood every single word because I've studied the issue. The Colorado Supreme Court addressed every single state law question and every single federal constitutional question as to the meaning and interpretation of the 14th Amendment. I know for a fact that it resolved each and every one of those questions as required not just under state law, but, more importantly, under federal constitutional law. That’s why I said that the opinion is unassailable in every respect. It is a masterful judicial opinion, and based on the objective law of the 14th, I believe that the Supreme Court should — and I believe it will — affirm the Colorado Supreme Court if given the opportunity.
