Also known as "lake flies," "blind mosquitoes," and "fuzzy bills," midge flies are common around bodies of water. I spotted this fuzzy feller on a gas pump by the lake.

They aren't actually mosquitoes and only some species bite, but leaving standing water can create huge swarms that deplete the biomass of lakes and ponds.

"When I hit puberty, things got really wild. I had all of these feelings pent up inside of me, and in Bullitt County they don’t exactly teach men how to express their feelings. I was sad. Incredibly lonely. Disappointed that I was gay because that meant if my family knew, they wouldn’t love me. Furious that God knew, and because of that, God didn’t love me. I felt caught between being the best little boy in the world and wanting to punch holes in my bedroom walls. I had all of these feelings and nowhere to put them.

And then in 2004, I heard a song that gave me that outlet. A song that unlocked my flair for the dramatic. A song that almost felt like my coming out anthem, even though I wouldn’t come out for another four years.

Oh & I just want to clarify "gender is a social construct" because some people interpret that as erasure. What I mean is that stuff like gender and race aren't innate or immutable.

Historically, questions like "who is a woman" and "who is white" were answered by a combination of the church, the government, and slavers, based on whatever was most profitable at the time

An individual's gender is real. Their experiences are real. This "what is a woman, really?" shit is just goofy.

A lot of people living in cities don't realize that rural USA is a lot like those third-world countries a politician might describe as ‘shitholes.’

In my tiny village(which is basically a few far-apart houses and farms gathered around a swamp):

-No municipal water (we have a well)
-No sewer (septic tanks)
-No garbage disposal (burn it)
-No public school (There's one in the next town over, bus leaves at 630am, gets back 430pm)
-No public college (there's one in the next county, that means you pay out-of-county tuition which is double)
-No mail delivery (I have a PO box)
-No police (I actually love this, no complaints here)
-No fire/emergency services (volunteers are notified by the town siren, closest actual hospital is an hour flight by chopper after you've driven 40 minutes to the rural hospital, which is basically just triage)

Where do I live? In Michigan, but you'll never find my address cuz it's not even on Google Maps.

@Cat_LeFey Sounds like the Eastern Kentucky experience. Friends of Coal prevents clean energy from coming in under the guise of "protecting jobs." Then local governments offer outrageous incentives for developers to build prisons there to "bring in jobs," but it creates a pool of even cheaper labor for the community to compete with. Not to mention rural hospitals closing left and right. IMO it's gotten worse over time despite the "development"

@Cat_LeFey Just my experience since I don't know any other Satanists IRL 😿 I think if your goal is to change the material world in a big way, activism + theory/history + energy work gives you the highest chance of success.

Activism also requires: an intense connection with other people; empathy and trust on a whole other level. Subversion. Questioning the foundation of authority, essentially sweeping an institution's legs so the rest crumples.

I'm not saying protestors are Satanic, but Satanic Witchcraft employs the same strategies - it's all part of the practice of achieving a desired outcome.

@Cat_LeFey It's easy to lose faith in humanity and become bitter. Seeing everyday folks working together to stop the pillaging of our planet and people is a testament to the human spirit. We DO have the power to the make the world WE WANT. Gets me emotional

I hate that we teach kids to ignore bullies. That just means they escalate until you have to top them at their worst to get it to stop. Everybody gangsta til the quiet kid starts throwing chairs

Because OF COURSE there's no way to contact the IRS, after I filed my simple refund early (January) and it's just been sitting in some kind of weird audit state since then. Because of course. It's my money, but to hell with that, right?
