if you can't be in a coalition with people you disagree with on at least a few things, you can't build a coalition big enough to accomplish anything in the United States or defeat rising fascism.

It’s just not going to work.

Everyone elevates Revolution over evolution.

But few revolutions stand the test of time like evolution. Grasping the power of evolving, understanding change takes time is fundamentally a sound strategy for getting where you need to go. Incremental progress holds better than upsetting the entire thing over a potentially imperfect outcome.

Critical thinking demands patience and perseverance both. I wish people employed it more. But drama sells.

The National Security and Intelligence Review Agency discovered that the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and Public Safety Canada lacked a tracking system for monitoring who received and read specific intelligence on foreign interference, leading to accountability gaps. CSIS’s distribution of intelligence on political foreign meddling during the last two general elections was inconsistent, with unclear decision-making processes affecting information flow. (1/2)

Today’s issue – in honor of AAPI heritage month – revolves around what it’s like to be an Asian journalist in Ukraine.

... in a weird way, I found it liberating.

Today Hamas shot rockets directly into civilian areas of Tel Aviv. They were intercepted, but a few things are important to note:

  1. The timing of these attacks was not random. It's the Jewish holiday of Lag B'Omer. Using a holiday as your day to attack is a provocation.

  2. To those who say Hamas is gone, or poses no threat, shooting rockets into a civilian city should prove otherwise.

  3. To those who say Hamas is toothless or has no resources, shooting rockets into a city should prove otherwise.

  4. To those why say that it's not a problem because Israel is able to defend itself, I ask if shooting a gun at someone is morally okay if they are wearing a bullet proof vest.

  5. To those who say that this post is a justification of any military action in Gaza, it's not. It's about Hamas and its actions and motivations.

RT: Our group from Dalhousie University in Halifax recently lost contact with a buoy that was monitoring seismic activity in the St. Lawrence River. The last position report had it offshore Mont-Joli, being blown south-west towards Rimouski. We think it may have washed up on shore. We are offering a $5000 reward to anyone who finds this instrument and brings it back to UQAR or some other storage site from where we can retrieve it. Graeme.Cairns@dal.ca
