Deleted the Reddit app. I wasn't paying attention to how much data it was sharing.

"It's Reddit guys! How bad could it be?" /facepalm

Now it refuses to play nice in the browser. This whole debacle has opened my eyes to the underlying Reddit proprietary and data issues.

@roob I stopped using the app once I found that old.reddit was still available and would work on mobile without trying everything to redirect to the app. After the latest developments I'm mostly hoping that kbin becomes more stable, or that nicer lemmy instances appear.

Why does anyone chose nuclear spending over solar home installs? So money goes to rich people, not us.

So economic control increases, and economic independence, ours, decreases.

So coercive economic power stays in a few hands, not spread out over many hands.

So security "requirements" include treating your population as terrorists, and not equal members of the economy and society.

Install solar on every roof, home, school, enterprise.

@kevinrns the main error of any energy policy that pretends to save the climate is letting politicians give the job to their friends. Just look at the last 2 decades with Germany pushing for gas (and also using coal) to replace nuclear. Whatever argument against nuclear it is more pressing to the climate to not use coal and gas to replace it, not even as a middle step. That's what we get by letting arguments be swayed by politicians and friends, together with failing emissions targets again.

@kevinrns I'm arguing that due to delivering the energy strategy to mostly friends and the private sector, we are once again failing to meet emissions targets globally, after failing them previously. Germany is the most visible example in the EU but not the only one.

I’ve told everyone who would listen that P92 (a.k.a., ) was a bigger deal than , and the Fediverse needs to prepare for its arrival.

As @chrismessina notes, if you look very closely, there’s a mastodon.social username in the screenshot. Which means they have ActivityPub integration baked into the app.

@atomicpoet them calling it screenshots (which it is not) is kind of why I mentioned it. Until it's out and working they have nothing, since it's meta there is a real chance of it being between half-baked and nothing given their recent endeavours.

@atomicpoet given Bluesky's connections with twitter and the current state of twitter, it wouldn't surprise me that Bluesky (or something coming out of the same source) would be the platform of choice for users after twitter becomes the sacrificial goat. Musk wanted a rewrite, he might get just that but not in the way he wanted.

@enby_of_the_apocalypse One can only hope. These are sad times, I was a kid when everyone agreed to stop using CFCs due to ozone layer depletion, it took some time but it was done. Nowadays I'm not sure it would have passed given the current anti-science people on all sides of the barricades.

@enby_of_the_apocalypse yes I may be overgeneralizing. But around here (Portugal) COVID showed me that we had at least a few of that kind of people on all the parties on the parliament (which is pretty varied both in the economic and social scales). But the problem is as you say capitalism which usually takes advantage of fear and ignorance.
