Spoutible, another Twitter alternative, has just published a new cross platform posting feature. Initially with Bluesky, but Mastodon is promised in the near term, as is Threads.
Another minor earthquake shook parts of Dhaka on Sunday. Just six days after a mild tremor, this one had a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter Scale and lasted only a few seconds. It struck at 12:49 pm and was centered in the Tangali district, about 59 km northwest of Dhaka. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties. A similar event occurred in the Sylhet region on September 9, with a 4.4 magnitude quake originating in India’s Assam. Stay safe, everyone!
Meta (owner of Facebook, Instagram & WhatsApp) is joining the fediverse very soon and we have to seriously prepare. This isn't a theoretical scenario anymore.
It's astonishing how many journalists seem to be unaware of the vibrant and thriving Fediverse. Despite their claims that Mastodon has failed and the Fediverse is dead, I find myself greeted with a constant stream of new posts on my feed, appearing almost every second.
Personally, I hold a strong conviction to never support or use corporate proprietary social media platforms. For me, it is a matter of moral obligation to steer clear of them.
One of the most exciting tech developments at the moment is the advent of the #Solid web standard, which lets people "store their data securely in decentralized data stores called Pods. Pods are like secure personal web servers for your data."
Is it technically possible for #ActivityPub to support the Solid standard? Or this would be something apps like #Mastodon should implement?
