My alternative title: “Reddit doesn't want to spend their own money on making their site accessible and wants others to do it, but only if they do it for free.”

A lesson in How Not to See What’s in Front of Your Face:

  1. The immediate problem is to put out the fires.
  2. The long-term problem is Canada’s forest management.
  3. Climate change? Don’t “lecture” people—that’s so unpleasant. https://journa.host/@atrupar/110508654703115034

Hey. Were you able to get that thing for me?

numbakrunch,

@Mrfunkedude I already said you'll get it but still waiting to hear if you need nail polish on it.

The mainstream media has told you a bit about poor Clarence Thomas lately. But do you know what you've barely heard it all, unless you were listening very, very carefully? That Clarence Thomas's bestest friend: his absolute BFF in this whole world (besides his extremist, pillow-talking wife), was none other than Rush fucking Limbaugh. Seriously. Let that sink in.

numbakrunch,

@shoq I wonder if Thomas helped Limbaugh workshop the "Barack, the Magic Negro" bit.

I'm not going to link, but I'll just note that the FOX News site is publishing multiple articles mercilessly bashing the DeSantis/Musk event. I mean, a Far Left publication couldn't hit them any harder. Fascinating.

Deleting my dating apps because I want to meet someone the old fashioned way (I'm sitting in my living room, he's a large jug of red juice that bursts through the side of my wall)

If we ever discover an alien artifact, will we be able to understand it?
Archeologists can't even understand these ubiquitous objects made by the Romans 1800 years ago!

numbakrunch,

@coreyspowell The Platonic solids we're all understood by Greeks many centuries before this. Nothing mysterious here. #icosahedron #dodecahedron

Welcome to the first meeting of "Why in the fuck did I do that?".

I'm your group guide Mr. Funk E. Dude. If you have any questions please ask them after the meeting and as always, there are donuts and beverages in the back.

Who want's to go first?

numbakrunch,

@Mrfunkedude After brushing my teeth this morning, I rinsed, cleaned my brush, then promptly put more toothpaste on the brush.

Why the fuck did I do that?

I'll note something else I've immediately seen on (BS). Many users seem to feel it necessary to routinely throw obscenities into their ordinary posts, maybe because other users are doing it. I'm not a prude, but I consider this a negative signal for the platform.

In 1929, each House member represented roughly 200,000 people.

Today, each House member represents an average of 760,000.

Why won’t your representative listen to you? Because they barely represent you.

We desperately need to expand the House.

    video/mp4

    numbakrunch,

@rbreich And as long as we're talking about representation, let's talk about abolishing the Senate.

A Florida school district just restricted access to a picture book about the life of Betty White

    This is not a joke.

    RT @FLFreedomRead

The picture book THAT’S BETTY: THE STORY OF BETTY WHITE was added to the restricted list in @ecpsfl today.

Challenged for being “content and age inappropriate” as outlined in HB1557!

    (yes, it’s Vicki again)

Turns out that Adobe is collecting all of its customers' pictures into a machine learning training set.

This is opt-out, not opt-in so if you use Lightroom, for example, it defaults to adding all of your photos to the set.

If these are unpublished pictures, work-in-progress, etc. they'll still be analysed as soon as they're synced.

I've been using Lightroom to sync photos from my Windows desktop to my iPad. Now I need to reconsider that.

    numbakrunch,

@baldur I keep all my porn on there!

Originally shot in Black and White, here is the colorized version of The Nicholas Brothers in one of the GREATEST dance sequences ever performed!

From the 1943 film, “Stormy Weather,” the clip also features Cab Calloway and Orchestra playing “Jumpin’ Jive.”

Childhood prodigies, The Nicholas Brothers don’t get nearly the recognition they deserve. They were truly astonishing to behold!

    https://youtu.be/IoMbeDhG9fU

    numbakrunch,

@Deglassco Every time I watch this, I think about how Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly got movies with their names on them. The Nicholas Brothers were the best, full stop, better than Astaire and Kelly but didn't achieve the stardom they deserved simply because they were Black.
