I've always heard "Blessed is he who plants trees under whose shade he will never sit." But it seems like so many older politicians, homeowners, and capitalists are trying to cut down every tree convinced no one will need the shade in the future more than they want the wood now

I wish I could tell people who call being trans a choice what it feels like I chose.

I wish they knew everything I chose to gave up. I gave up security and stability: financially, politically, romantically, medically, physically. I wish they knew the things that broke and can’t be fixed and the hurt and pain I can't take back.

They’re right, I chose all of that. But it wasn’t the choice to start pretending I'm someone I'm not, but the choice to stop.

This is always a hard one to do. I feel like face on shots don’t do a very good job of capturing how we look (license photos anyone) and putting my face next to that other face that has so much of the same contours has a tendency to invoke dysphoria.

It’s that feeling that maybe nothing has changed, that I’m lying to myself, and that maybe others are too.

I’m doing ok with this one though.
