Alright nerds, I have a question. I would like to set up a standard way to get a derived value back from a number of sensors; for example, given a sensor’s PM2.5, PM10, Ozone, CO, SO2, and/or NO2 reading, I would like to return an estimated air quality index (AQI). Ideally I could also have a standard way to map any given AQI value to a category string, e.g. 10 = Good, 75 = Moderate, 175 = Unhealthy, etc.

these light bulbs seem like they have internally corrupted state since they’re not pairing to anything at all
they’re zigbee bulbs and my zigbee hub for RPi/ just came in today
they just hang forever on “Starting interview”
anyone got any tips?

@niko @homeassistant When I have that issue it normally works after I have put the bulb very near the controller or other device in the network (near like almost touching)

Has anyone here used a smart plug to detect when an electrical appliance has finished doing something?

For example, I want to plug in my rice cooker and get an alert on my phone when its electrical use drops to zero.

Ideally using something like - but I'm not fussed.

(Looking for people with direct & personal experience; I know how to use Google. Also, not looking for your criticisms of .)

@boffbowsh @Edent yes. I do that with my washing machine. I have an automation that notifies me when the power is under 1w for 5 minutes

Dear @homeassistant users, do you have any smart light bulb to recommend that works fully locally and it integrates with ? I am open to WiFi and Zigbee variants.

I just ran into a WiFi-based TP-Link Tapo bulb for half of its usual price. I bet it phones to the headquarters. It'd be great if it can be flashed with a libre firmware. Any thoughts?

sanzky,
@sanzky@masto.es avatar

@dmakovec @fishidwardrobe @mdimjasevic @homeassistant In my case I could not pair them into ZHA without a hue dimmer remote to “guide it”, the same with some Ikea bulbs. but it was quite easy once I understood the process

Alright crew, I'm looking for help:

I want to buy a smart plug that:

  • does not tell everyone in China what I am doing
  • actually does not use any cloud service
  • works nice with Home Assistant
  • measures power usage

Any suggestions?

sanzky,
@sanzky@masto.es avatar

@stfn I think going zigbee is probably the right answer. If you really want a wifi one, you can check which devices you can flash with tasmota

    @jamesthomson I find this feature so weird. they have been cracking down on people using plex on hosting companies like hertz because they use it for large amount of users. But they also are sending emails indicating that sharing your plex with a lot of people is encouraged.
