A friend spotted this in La Paz (Baja California Sur, Mexico) malecón yesterday around sunset (6:56 pm). It was visible around 10 minutes to the naked eye. Can it be space trash? Friend think it might be a plane but its an odd trajectory and I couldn't find visible comets planned for yesterday.

Serious question: when and in which contexts did calling people "individuals" emerge as a common practice, as a synonym for people? Or "an individual" for "a person"?

I ask because I'm noticing it in student writing, and I associate it with police-speak. I don't know if it's in some corners of social science or medicine too

@inquiline I associate "individual" with "an individual of this species" or "we sampled n individuals for the research project". Not really related to humans/ persons.

@CindyWeinstein do you know if Parkinson's disease dementia is hereditary? Is there a link between Parkinson and Alzheimer? Two of my grandmother's brothers have Parkinson and one of them hardly recognizes his family.

I'm making the transition to Linux slowly. So I'm using more LibreOffice (instead of Excel) and QGis.
Today I had a problem with LibreOffice and I asked for help here. In half an hour I had a lot of shares and 3 persons trying to help me out and asking follow up questions. One of the solutions worked right away. Thanks 🙂

question: I have a *.csv file with dates and numbers. How can I stop the number auto format in LibreOffice (version 7.6.6.3)? It transforms the decimal numbers (such as 0.1) in entire numbers (such as 1).
Office also changes the numbers in its own annoying way, but I'm really trying to use LibreOffice more.
I'm adding pictures of the screens I have in WordPad, how I imported the data in LibreOffice, how it appears in LibreOffice Calc and in Excel.

Import options in LibreOffice Calc
Numbers in LibreOffice without the zeroes in blue. For example 0.212 has become 212
Excel spreadsheet in which numbers has become dates (with different years)

Me encanta la diversidad de acentos que se ve en este mapa, pero me estresa que parece haber sido hecho por pedazos: la leyenda está regada por todo el mapa y los colores no muestran afinidades de algun tipo en todo el mapa. El acento del centro de CR se parece al acento de Bogotá (Col) por ejemplo.

I have a big group chat with my a large amount of my real life friends, then smaller groups out of that group that have particular interests:

One is for the people who live locally to plan activities.

One is for art, but maybe the kind of art that not everyone would want to see.

One for BBQ and cocktails.

One where we talk about terrible home renovations and shit exes.

One specifically for handyman information and planning if someone moves or needs help with a project.

One where we seem to mostly talk about cute dogs, and often cheese.

Plus individual chats.

But now I'm wondering who has chats without me, do they have a secret chat where everyone talks about how I'm in everyone's business?!
