The newest issue of my favorite horror magazine Nightmare Abbey is out now. The article on the history of horror comics was enlightening and fun, whether you enjoyed them as a kid or are too young to have lived in those glorious days of perusing through gruesome tales and gory illustrations. As always the short horror stories are the star. I love Mastodon but I do wish there were more active peeps here. Other sites seem so transactional. People want to friend me so they can tag me to advertise their own sites, or they want to know how I got ARCs and I tell them and then never hear from them again, Or they just want to complain about other book reviewers or publishers. Anyway if you see this it's probably because you are an awesome person! We need more awesome people here. @horror

@Well_Worth_A_Read @horror I get more interaction re: books & horror on BlueSky but I follow a lot of authors and readers on there, and there's a large horror community.

I think it depends on who's on the platforms. I hate the transactional & angry nature of Twitter- and the entire vibe of IG/FB- most people are on those (or Threads or TikTok, which I refuse to use.)

This place is fun, and I love the interactions I DO get, I just wish more people were here.

ALL YOU NEED IS DEATH is a folk horror movie of Atmosphere. If you expect everything presented/explained neatly, you may be frustrated- but there IS a logic here, of murder ballads & fairy tales. If you want a well crafted, creepy, unique film about the enigma & power of songs, you'll dig its vibe.

@frykitty @horror Haaaa and your story reminds ME: As a kid one of my neighbors had a Margaret Keane print of her famous big eyed children hanging on their wall and it used to creep me out so much! Once I got older she became one of my favorite artists, which makes me laugh now, but I found it so eerie at the time. 👁️ 👁️

-An ARC of Cynthia Gomez's THE NIGHTMARE BOX, published by Cursed Morsels. I've loved the couple of stories of hers I've read & look forward to discovering some new favorites in this collection.
