I bought a new car on Monday. My very first new car. For those who haven't, buying a new car is a Whole Fucking Process.

Interesting how different our tisms are. The logistics of owning a regular car are already quite unpleasant for me, and the extra load of an EV would be just a flat out no.
Meanwhile silence bothers me enough that i tend to keep a window rolled down a little at all times.

It never fails, every time I get hit with insomnia, as I lay awake in the dark trying to get my brain to shutdown, my mind wanders to my unfinished ActivityPub server project. In the daze of excess serotonin, inevitably we land on the idea that we should pickup the project again, because wouldn’t it be great to have a service that handles all the different flavors of AP together?

Then the next morning I reopen the project, and immediately remember why I stopped working on it.

The fruits of today's labors. I now have a full gas management system. Mixed/Waste gas goes into the brown tank where it will be cooled (that's the next thing to build) and then filtered off into the distinct storage tanks. Each filtration unit has a custom IC program to only turn on when the temp gets below 20C, and there's enough gas to bother filtering.

I disagree. Having been part of the DIY community for a couple of years now, i've seen people collecting data and refining lore, building pharmokinetics models for estradiol esters, logging the effects over years, aggregating all sorts of things.
Don't discount the research done by trans folk, just because it's not academic.

@Impossible_PhD Which is why the fight is to remove the doctors out of the equation. The system is not broken, it's working as intended, and needs to be dismantled. Building on top of it is a total waste.

The end of spring term is a really hard time for me. There's so much to do, and so many different things to do, and the no rest plus constant task switching absolutely obliterates me because of my autism which, since I'm really not out about it, I can't even talk about or get help for.

It leaves me feeling deeply worthless.

And even if/when people tell me otherwise round this time of the year, it doesn't feel believable, because I can barely function for weeks on end.

I just feel broken.

@Impossible_PhD Gentle reminder that your worth is not tied to your ability to perform things, much less to the ability to perform them without internal torment.

You have worth. No ifs, no buts.

I know it's unlikely to sink in through your fused skin of stained glass, but we'll all repeat it often enough that eventually it would find a crack to slip through. 💜

Where do you live and how do you feel about it?

Obviously, don't tell me exactly where you live, no actual addresses please! You can be as vague as you like.

I live in Central Missouri in the U.S.

Pros:

This is an absolutely beautiful place, green rolling hills, lots of rivers, lakes, ponds, and natural springs, cool caves to explore.

Lots of farming here, so great access to quality fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs, and dairy.

It's relatively inexpensive to live here compared with other states, because it's a "flyover".

I'm close enough to three major cities, that it's an easy day trip, and I'm about halfway to anywhere in the U.S.

We have one of the best Conservation departments in the U.S. and this is one of the few things that is a bipartisan issue. Lots of awesome nature programs that are free or cheap, state parks, conservation areas, bird watching, hunting, boating, foraging available to everyone.

Cons:

Yeah, it's a big one, it is a RED STATE, while a lot of the cities are blue, there is a large rural population, that votes red. Abortion is not legal here. People often vote against their own self interest.

While I'm not against responsible gun ownership, lots of people aren't responsible, and people have access to guns that definitely should not.

We have very few employee protections here, while the cost of living is relatively low compared with other places, it's taken years to get to a $12 minimum wage, and it's still not enough.

@RickiTarr I live in a small city/town in a little european country.

Pros: Great landscape. Everything is laid out for the era before cars were a thing, so you can easily walk to anywhere. Quiet and peaceful.

Cons: If you need anything non-trivial, it's at best an international delivery (takes 2+ weeks) and at worst an international flight away.
Need a doctor? She is an overnight train ride away.
Need a visa? Closest consulate is 2 hour flight away.
Trans healthcare? Another continent, please.

There's a part of me that loves seeing it when someone tweaks their display name around here to talk about their boobs being too small or that they're getting a boob job. Obviously, gender affirming care is 🔥 and getting the body you need is 🔥🔥🔥.

Buuuuuut also because I know I've been an [insert adjective here] influence around here, and big boobies rule! 🤭 :smiling_angel_devil: 🍈 🍈

I discovered a Transfem Secret Technique today, and I'm gonna share it with you.

Wish you had wide, bodacious hips? Get yourself a (longline, probably) corset with hip gores, the modifications a corset needs for very hippy ladies. Put it on. Then, put a midi or miniskirt or dress on overtop. Pleated works best, but anything that's not bodycon works.

Again, pleated works best, but check that out! I have in no way earned those hips.

I've had quite a fair lot of surgery. I am very, very tired of it, and I want no more transition surgeries. Period.

But I saw a trans gal recently who got lipo and a tummy tuck, and afterward, her hips and ass came the fuck in. No BBL, but kinda looked like she had.

And I've got a tummy pooch that's literally the only part of my body I'm not a fan of, and the idea I could light some money on fire and cast "transmute tummy to ass" is... more tempting that I'd like.
