It is literally impossible to be an expert in everything relating to and/or . The umbrella is too broad. So after the initiate stage, we tend to settle into a few niches.

I think this is a great humbling and equalizing factor within the community. We are all novices at something, and it's possible to find experts in all kinds of specific fields of study.

Expert- regional plant life, tarot
Intermediate- astrology
Novice- Greek pantheon and mythology

I don't think I would place myself as an expert in anything. There are things I've done a lot (spirit work, for example) but there's no such thing as knowing everything about anything.

I would myself as an intermediate at herbalism, divination, energy work, sigils, and planetary magic.

Beginner at seidr and all that entails (changing the hamr, wyrdcraft, runes, galdr).

so I got a bit of a spoiler in the "hidden gem horror slashers of the 80s" video I got this title from: Marty is going to end up horribly disfigured.

They're obviously implying that he becomes burned in a chemistry accident.

My question is, why do we always position villains, killers, and general miscreants as those with disfiguring disabilities?

Where did this originate?
