Via @vladcampos - The B1M Youtube channel (over 3 million subscribers) has “examined” Rail Baltica - entitling it “Europe's Megaproject to Replace Russian Railways” 🤔

The vast majority of the video material is from Rail Baltica itself, and the whole thing is rather a hagiographic in its style

Everything is amazing and important and significant, and the comments below it gushing

It's mostly factually correct, if one sided, and missing some of the crucial points

@jon as someone who likes trains, but has no technical knowledge, I appreciate your analysis of the video. And I specifically have to agree with you on the hagiographic part 😊.

It's a pretty interesting project, though. Would love to see you sharing more about current and future EU rail projects.

You know what I absolutely despise? When you find a legal way to watch a movie, say on a streaming service you're already paying for, but for whatever reason the audio track and subtitles are only in German. Just this default assumption that if you're in Germany that's the only language you'll ever want.

It's time to ditch the chaos of Slack and Discord communities and make a return to the organised, focused world of forums.

They aren't obsolete.

@soop @Daojoan There are many reasons. The most important one, in my opinion, is that synchronous communication (chat, video, phone, etc.) locks the participants' available time in the conversation that has to happen at that moment. In an asynchronous conversation (forum, email, etc.), all participants will reply when possible. Everyone is free to manage their own time. Like what's happening here ☺️. There's also the forum, email, etc. much better content searchability and organization.

    Hello people, what do you do to ensure that your notes will be properly processed and isn't just stuff to occupy your folders? Meaning, how do you ensure that you extract value from them?

    A question I am pondering as I have hundreds of notes now, and while I have made sure to turn some of them into articles, am not sure about everything else. Am curious to know how you extract value from your notes.

    @liztai I'm amazed at how we all memorize things using different methods. I can't do it with a pen and paper. It has to be text and digital because I constantly change it, inserting information and moving things around. This is how I learn.

    The strap on my lasted 3 heavy-usage years - I think that's ok. The replacement however is not one of the very expensive original ones. Let's see how long this one will last.

    @ascherbaum I'm blown away by how durable these watches are. I wear my Instinct 2 all the time, and it gets a lot of dirt from projects like gardening, woodworking, and the other day it was paint that was splashing from a wall I was painting. And then there is also my dog, who learned that the watch is the best place to hold on with his mouth to pull my arm. Next month, my will be one year old, and it looks like it just came out of the box.

    @jakmarcin it would indeed. Meanwhile what you can do is set the language of your posts. I have my account set to only show posts in English, but I saw your resent translated post. Maybe because you did not select a language. Mastodon filter works bases on the language set on each post by the user. Do you know how to do it? I explained it in the video below.
